Zendaya's Going To Be Playing ***SPOILER!!!*** In Spider-Man: Homecoming

If you didn't get the hint from the title of this post, let me say it again...there are ***SPOILERS!*** ahead for the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie that comes out next year.

When it was announced that Zendaya was joining the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, they failed to tell us who she was going to be playing.  At this year's San Diego Comic Con, fans that were able to make it to the Spider-Man movie panel were treated to a short teaser for the upcoming film, something that Marvel and Sony have not released online.  It had a few shots that showed Spidey in action, but it mainly focused on the different characters that would be appearing in the film.  After the clip, director Jon Watts revealed that the name of the character that Zendaya would be playing was Michelle.  This revelation led a lot of fans to believing that she would be playing Michelle Gonzales, who was Peter Parker's roommate in the comic books.  Turns out that whole thing may have been a ruse.

It's now being reported by The Wrap that the actual character that she'll be playing is Mary Jane Watson, a role that was portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in the first three films, and was supposed to be portrayed by Shailene Woodley in the Amazing Spider-Man movies, until her part was cut.  The reveal comes near the end of the movie, apparently, when she tells Peter to call her M.J.  It seems that Marvel was wanting to keep this revelation a surprise from people, but like Benedict Cumberbatch's character Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness, it ended up getting leaked online.  Don't hate me for letting you all know, I warned you there was a huge spoiler in this post.

So what do you think about this reveal?  To be honest, I was surprised that it's such a big deal.  Did you really think that Mary Jane wasn't going to be in the Spider-Man movie?  Even though she hadn't appeared in the Amazing Spider-Man movies, she was suppose to appear in the third act, which never got made.  Let me know your thoughts on this in the comments section down below.
