Henry Cavill Teases Black Superman Suit For Justice League Movie

              #Superman
If you are at all familiar with Superman comic books, then I'm sure you know all about "The Death and Return of Superman" storyline that took place back in the 90's.  In it, he fought the monster "Doomsday" in an epic battle that culminated with them both dying.  Of course, as you know, you can't keep a good man down...or dead, when it comes to comic book characters.  What ended up happening was four different "Superman" heroes emerged, all claiming to be the real one (well, except for John Henry Irons, who has no super powers what-so-ever, but built himself an iron suit that looked like a metal Superman).  There was John Henry Irons, who I just talked about, there was Superboy, who ends up being a clone of Superman that Cadmus created, then you have Cyborg Superman, who ends up being Hank Henshaw, and finally there was one who turned out to be the Eradicator.  The real Superman finally shows up (with a mullet, no less) and ends up taking his rightful place as the one true Superman.  There was a lot that happened in between that I won't get into, but this storyline set up a lot of major changes for DC comics, including the destruction of Coast City and Hal Jordan becoming Parallax.  The movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, took some creative liberties while pulling from this storyline when they introduced Doomsday into the DCEU and "killed off" Superman at the end of the movie.  But, like in the comic books, you can't keep Superman dead for very long.

Henry Cavill recently shared a picture on his Instagram page, which you can see up above, and it looks like it's teasing a black Superman suit, similar to the one that Superman wore in the comic book storyline after he returned to his Fortress of Solitude.  This is the first bit of news that we've seen that hints at Henry Cavill's Superman appearing in the upcoming Justice League movies.  While it seemed like a no-brainer that he would be appearing, all of the stills and the movie trailer that Warner Bros. released at San Diego Comic Con have failed to show us any indication that Superman had returned.  If they were trying to keep this a secret, then this kind of ruined the surprise.  I figured that they'd release the Man of Steel 2 movie first, establish how he comes back in that movie, then have him join everybody in the second Justice League movie.  Doesn't look like it's going to work out the way I expected.

So there you have it, everyone.  Superman is making his return (duh) and he's got a new suit to boot.  Justice League will hit theaters November 17, 2017, and if you haven't read any of the "Death and Return of Superman" comic books, go out and buy the compilation graphic novel of the storyline, or head to your local library and check it out.  It's a fun read!
