Casting Rumored For Another Younger Version Of A Star Wars Favorite

We already know that Disney and Lucasfilm have hired Alden Ehrenreich to portray a younger version of Harrison Ford's Han Solo in the second installment of the "Anthology" movies, which give us Star Wars stories that take place outside of the "Episode" storyline, but still exist in the Star Wars universe.  It's now being reported that the Han Solo movie is also looking for an actor to play the part of a young Lando Calrissian, and the name at the top of that list of actors is Donald Glover.  Best known for his work on the television series Community, Glover has also signed on to appear in next year's Spider-Man: Homecoming, playing opposite Tom Holland, and given that the Spider-Man movie takes place in the MCU, and Disney owns both Marvel and Lucasfilm, it makes sense that they would go after someone that they already have faith in.

While it may seem that Glover's mostly a comedic actor, he's also played more dramatic roles, like in the movie The Lazarus Effect and The Martian.  Since he's able to play such a wide range of characters, he seems to be the perfect fit for the role of a young Lando.  Since the film's directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miler, usually direct comedies, I'm sure that they are looking for an actor who has the comedic timing necessary for the humor that the character needs, while also balancing the dramatic side of what will more than likely be an adventure film.  It's said that Glover is at the top of Lord and Miller's list of actors for the role, but nothing has been confirmed, and all of this is still just a rumor.  They may go a different route, or Glover might decide not to take the role.  Yes, it would be the chance of a lifetime to get to play Lando, but filling Billy Dee Williams shoes is a very intimidating thing to do, and Glover may decide to pass on it.  Once there is a confirmation on who gets the role, I'll let you know.

So what do you think about the idea of Donald Glover playing the part of a young Lando Calrissian?  If it's not going to be him, who would you like to see in this role?  Let me know your suggestions and your thoughts on this in the comments section down below.  The Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film is scheduled for release on May 25, 2018.
