We Now Know What The Second Spider-Man Film Will Be!

I've got to say, Tom Holland is my favorite Spider-Man/Peter Parker I have seen yet.  This is why I am EXTREMELY happy that Sony and Marvel have come to an agreement.  I was a little unsure about how things were going to work out, but with the way Far From Home ended, I honestly didn't think that Marvel would want him to leave the MCU with a cliffhanger that huge.  So he's back and all's well in the world!

The deal let Sony have a little more control over their own property!!! so now Tom Holland will be able to appear in Sony Spider-Verse movies for the first time.  This is pretty huge, allowing one actor to appear in multiple universes playing the same character, I'm not even sure that it's been done before.  That being said, the MCU was able to obtain Tom Holland's Spider-Man to appear in two more MCU movies.  The first one was already announced after they had come to an agreement, Spider-Man 3: In Search of More Money (sorry, stole that joke from "Spaceballs!") but the second film had yet to be revealed.

Now it's been revealed.  Well, the rumor going around is that it's been revealed.  It's being said that the second movie of the new contract that Tom Holland will appear in as Spider-Man will be The New Avengers.  This is all thanks to the work of Kevin Feige who has worked tirelessly for Marvel and Disney to make the MCU what it is today.  While it's said that he will be going over to Disney's Lucasfilm division to produce a new Star Wars movie that will star Brie Larsen and Chris Evans (um, yeah.  He wants in on this action!), he'll help tie up the Peter Parker angle in the MCU in case they don't reach a third agreement.  The (possible) send off Avengers movie will feature the likes of Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Blade, Shang-Chi, Female Thor (the Jane Foster one, duh) and possibly many more.

If you're going to go out, go out big.  There is still a chance that the two companies will try to work something out with a third deal, but in my opinion, it is highly unlikely.  It's already being reported that Feige is writing Spidey out of the MCU and Sony has big plans for him in their own Spider-Verse.  Besides, Feige (or whoever takes over for him) will have their hands full introducing the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, not to mention Dr. Doom and Galactus!

So what are your thoughts on all of this?  Curious to know what you think, so let me know in the comments section below, or you can leave them on my Facebook page.

Just a head's up, I have a long day at work tomorrow and may not be able to post, so check back again on Tuesday morning.  And if I haven't said it in a while?  Thank you to everyone that reads this blog.  You all are the reason I do this and don't get paid. :)

WB Has Big Plans For Constantine In The DCEU

WB and the DCEU have taken a few missteps with their movies, at least judging by the harsh criticism from fans after Batman V Superman and Justice League, but they have been making some progress.  Both Wonder Woman and Aquaman were well received, ensuring that both Gal Gadot and Jason Mamoa will continue on in these roles.  While they continue to develop their "expanded universe," one things seems certain...they want John Constantine.

It had been reported that Warner Bothers was wanting to bring Constantine back into the DCEU, and it was said that they had offered the role to Colin Farrell.  Now it seems that this is no longer the case.  Sources are reporting that WB wants to incorporate Constantine in no less than 4 future DCEU movies, and that they are courting Keanu Reeves to reprise his role as the Demon Slayer.

When Reeves first played Constantine, the movie wasn't a particularly "popular" movie, but it does have it's loyal fanbase, and it has become somewhat of a cult classic.  With Keanu reprising old roles, such as Neo in The Matrix, and Ted Theodore Logan in Bill and Ted, not to mention his amazing run as John Wick, why not Constantine?  The actor himself has said that he would like to return to this character in some sort of fashion, and with Keanu having a resurgence in his career that it utterly unheard of (unless you know Keanu Reeves!) I wouldn't bet against him popping up as Constantine in the near future.

On a personal note, the first Reeves movie that I saw was Permanent Record.  It was one of his first movies, if not THE first movie that he did.  It dealt with a high school suicide and it was an amazing movie.  I remember it profoundly because one of my best friends had killed himself that year.  If you are a fan of Keanu Reeves and love his work, this is a must watch.  Sorry, just wanted to praise the guy for the work he does, not just the movies everyone knows about, but even the smaller ones.

SO what do you think?  Are you excited to see him come back as Constantine? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, or you can leave them on my Facebook page.  Just look up The Comconoclast.

Marvel Televsion Looks To Be Shuttered

Marvel Studios has been a juggernaut at the box-office, but it has struggled with projects related to the small screen.  While Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has obviously been a success for the House of Mouse, it hasn't always felt a part of the MCU.  In fact, each season seems to separate it more and more from the MCU.  Yes, there have been some appearances from MCU actors on the show, but that just makes it more awkward.  Netflix programs like Daredevil and Punisher have done well, but their other shows, ike Luke Cage and Iron Fist, have fallen flat.  The Inhumans didn't even make it through an entire season.  So what is a studio supposed to do?

Write off their losses.  At least, that's the approach that Disney seems to be taking.  Disney created the Marvel Television Studio to settle tensions between Kevin Feige and Ike Perlmutter.  It allowed Feige more creative control with the MCU without having to work with Pertmutter.  While Feige has had essentially bottomless pockets of money to create his movies, Pertmutter has been given crumbs by comparison.

Now that Disney is getting ready to launch their Disney+ streaming service, all of that is about to change.  They are introducing new "televisions" shows, like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,  that are going to be done on a "movie" sized budget. This will allow them to be connected to the MCU without the "B-movie" grade quality to them.

Marvel Television will now stop trying to keep up with their big brothers in the MCU and will now focus solely on animated projects, like the upcoming Offenders, which will feature Tigra, MODOK, Hit-Monkey, and Howard the Duck.  All of their live action shows on cable and network television though, seem to be about to disappear in a snap.

Marvel May Be Preparing To Write Spider-Man Out Of The MCU

After all of the hoopla that has taken place over the last month between Sony and Disney, the future of Spider-Man and the MCU has finally been laid to rest...for now.

With the announced deal, it's clear that the winner here are the fans, but both studios were able to walk away winners as well.  Marvel and Disney are going to be receiving 25% of the profits for the Sony produced movies that have Tom Holland's Spider-Man appearing in the MCU, and Sony is going to be able to have Tome Holland's Spider-Man appear in their own Marvel movies, Sony's Spider-Verse.  Everyone has walked away with more than what they had before.

The agreement will let Spider-Man appear in two more MCU movies, on will be Spider-Man 3,  and the other one hasn't been named yet.  There is a possibility that Spider-Man will continue to be allowed to remain in the MCU after this agreement comes to it's conclusion, but from what I am hearing Marvel isn't taking that chance and are working on writing Spider-Man out of the MCU if it comes to that.

IT sounds like Marvel is wanting to see how Spider-Man does appearing in both universes before making a new deal.  If it doesn't work out for their property, then they will  have an out.  Even though Spider-Man is by far the most popular character in the MCU right now, that might change once he starts appearing in movies for the separate studios. IT might make him even more popular, so from what it sounds like, it's a "wait and see" approach.  But this time, Marvel will be a little more prepared.

Makes sense, right?  Let me know what you think about his little bit of news.  Does this make you more comfortable knowing that there won't be a cliff hanger that will leave us hanging if they don't come to a third agreement, or would you be just as pissed off if he leaves a second time?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, or let me know over on my Facebook page.

Spider-Man To Crossover Universes

One of the downsides of working third shift is your asleep when the really interesting stuff happens!

Early this morning, Disney and Sony announced that they had come to an agreement to share the property rights to Spider-Man.  The agreement came between Sony's Amy Pascal and Marvel's Kevin Feige.  The latter joked that Spider-Man had gained a new super power that allows him to travel between universes.  Here's what he said:

"I am thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of is at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it.  Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe.  He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their  own Spidey-Verse you never know what surprises the future might hold."

Details for the agreement are scarce right now, but from what I have learned it is only a two movie deal, with Spider-Man 3  being one of them.  The other might be a crossover role, but it is too soon to tell.  That's for the MCU's Spider-Man.  On the Sony side of things, Spider-Man will be able to appear in their other Spider-Verse movies, like Madame Web, Venom, Carnage, Mysterio, and Hobgoblin.  With regards to the Venom franchise, it had originally been announced that Tom Holland's Spider-Man would be appearing in Venom 2,  but now that a deal has been struck with the House of Mouse, it sounds like they will be holding off on his crossing over until Venom 3.

Tome Holland's Spider-Man 3  is scheduled to be released July 2021.  Like I said, this will be one of the two movies set up in the agreement.  While there has been no news as to what the second project will be, it may be the Captain Marvel crossover that I had discussed in an earlier post.  Marvel is desperately wanting to humanize Brie Larsen's character after poll after poll have shown that she comes across as stiff and bland.  Not really something that they were hoping for regarding the "New Face of the MCU."  Of course, with Feige moving over to the Lucasfilm division of Disney and reportedly bring Brie Larsen over there to star in his upcoming Star Wars movie, maybe plans for Captain Marvel are changing as well.

I'll let you all know more as it comes out, but for right now all is well in the Universe.

Four Or More Avengers Teams In Marvel's Future?

With the success of the Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame movies, Marvel and Disney are planning on moving forward with multiple Avenger team ups in the next new phases.

It seems that superhero team-ups are the way to go moving forward.  I'm guessing that unless it's a television show that will be premiering on Disney+, there will be multiple characters appearing in all future movies.  We already know that Marvel is planning an Eternals movie, which is a team-up movie of sorts, the X-Men are soon to be making their way onto the big screen, but now we are learning that there are other Avengers groups that are being thrown around as well.  This does not include the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3,  either.

I have already discussed the fact that they want to do a Young Avengers movie, which will focus on the characters that are being built on Disney's new streaming service.  They are rumored to include Kate Bishop's Hawkeye, Iron Lad, Hulkling, Patriot, Stature, Wiccan, and Vision (just not the Paul Bettany's version of the character.)  But there are to be other Avenger teams as well.

There are also rumors that The West Coast Avenger  could be in the works, too.  This group would most likely be composed of Moon Knight, Scarlet Witch, Vision (yes, Paul Bettany's Vision) and Falcon.  There was talk of a Dark Avengers movie, but considering that it was ran by Norman Oswald and was composed of bad guys, this one may take a while before it makes it's way onto the big screen.

All of these team ups may finally bring us to a point where we will start getting tired of superhero movies.  I hope not, but without Kevin Feige helming the direction of this ship (since they moved him over to their Lucasfilm division) I'm a little worried.  But that's just me.  What do you think about Marvel's plans moving forward?  Is it a smart move, or should they focus primarily on individual character story lines?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

Sony Spider-Verse News

Sony has been moving fast since the split of their merger with Marvel and Disney.  They have announced a number of projects that they are now moving into development (meaning writing the scripts and looking at actors, not actually filming.)  Three of these projects that stood out the most were quite interesting.

The first is that Sony is being reported to be working on a Madame Web movie.  She was first introduced in Amazing Spiderman #120 and is capable of telepathy and prescience.  She is often depicted as an older woman, but not always.  She is hooked up to a life support system which resembles a spider web, and with her last name being what it is, became Madame Web.  How she is to fit into their Spider-Man Universe remains to be seen, but she may be used to help connect the other Spider-Men from other universes, similar to Into the Spider-Verse.  This is just in the beginning stages, so as I learn more I will let you know.

The second bit of new is that Sony is reportedly wanting to make a Mysterio solo film with Jake Gyllenhaal.  Gyllenhaal is already on board, so the only thing that Sony needs to do is write a story around how Quentin Beck survived. It wouldn't be too hard, he is the master of illusions, so there are any number of scenarios that they could use.

The final bit of news that is being rumored that Sony is wanting to make a Hobgoblin movie.  Since Venom  did so well last year with his origin movie, they want to keep moving in the same direction and introduce the Hobgoblin, although who will actually be the Hobgoblin in this universe remains to be seen.  There have been a number of people that have donned the moniker, such as Roderick Kingsley, Arnold Donovan, Ned Leeds...the list keeps going.  Once I hear more on this, I will let you all know.

Those are the three new bits of news pertaining to the Sony Spider-Verse.  we already know that they are making a Venom 2 and a Carnage movie that will feature Woody Harrelson, so Sony has a lot on their plate. The question is, is it too much?  Are they moving in the same direction that they were when they were in charge of The Amazing Spider movies and trying to do too much too fast?  We'll just have to wait and see.  I am curious to know what you all think, though.  Leave your comments in the section below, or you can leave them on my Facebook page.  Just search for The Comconoclast.  Until next time...

I Don't Think Disney Knows What To Do With Brie Larson

I don't know what's going on over at Disney, and from the reports i have been reading, neither do they.  It's being reported that Disney is losing confidence in Captain Marvel actor Brie Larson.  She was to be the "New Face of the MCU," yet they never mentioned Captain Marvel 2 at this year's D23.

It is being said that after they lost Spider-Man to Sony, their plans for her went all wonky.  Polling on the actor and her character told them that she was stiff, and unlikeable.  It was first reported by the YouTuber Doomcock (sorry, I don't come up with the names, i just report them) who said:

"According to this source, Disney has lost confidence in Captain Marvel.  Disney is having Brie Larsen fatigue and they have lost confidence in her and the direction they are moving with Captain Marvel.  According to my source, and again you must treat this as rumor, Marvel had plans for Captain Marvel.  But those plans were utterly derailed by the loss of Spider-Man to Sony.  Allegedly, Marvel realized that Captain Marvel  was a little stiff, a little unlikeable, and so they were counting on pairing her up with Spider-Man in order to humanize and balance her out a bit."

This comes on the heals of a report that the Captain Marvel  DVD and BluRay sales are lagging.  They have made around $40 million less than Black Panther and Infinity War.  To be fair, Endgame,  which broke the record for being the highest grossing movie of all time, has only made around $4 million more than Captain Marvel.  Read into that what you want.

Disney has also replaced Larsen's Captain Marvel from the banner promoting the new Disney+ streaming service that they are about to launch and replaced her with Iron Man.  So maybe there are some truths to these rumors.

On the other hand...It has been reported that Kevin Feige is going to be teaming up with Kathleen Kennedy over at their Lucasfilm division to help produce a new Star Wars movie, and guess who is rumored to be one of the leading stars rumored to be in it?  Yup.  Brie Larsen.  So it's really kind of hard to tell what is going on over at Disney regarding Brie Larsen.

It's also being reported that Richard Rider and Nova will be making their debut in the MCU in Captain Marvel 2,  so whatever is going on over at Disney, they are still moving forward with their plans for the sequel, even though it wasn't mentioned at D23.  I'm guessing that this just means we won't get the sequel until after 2022.

So what is your take on all of the Captain Marvel rumors?  Do you think that there is any merit to them, or that this is a big old nothing burger?  Let me know your thoughts on this in the comments section below, or you can leave them over on my Facebook page.

The Hasbro Power-Formers!

Hasbro has long wanted to get into the expanded universe business with their movie properties, and it now seems like they are taking their first step to making it a reality.  There is a new rumor out there that says that they are working on a Transformers/Power Rangers movie.  Worst mentioned by Mike Sutton who has the Facebook Group page Geekosity, he said:

"Hasbro still has dreams of weaving together its properties into a single, cohesive cinematic universe, and they would love for the Power Rangers to be a significant part of it.  According to insiders I spoke to, there are talks of the Power Rangers co-existing in the same universe as the Transformers."

Sutton did make it clear that if the Transformers were to end up in a Power Rangers movie, it would not be a part of the current Transformers cinematic universe.  He said, "No, this wouldn't be Michael Bay's Transformers but the post-Bumblebee vision."  But these wouldn't be the only two properties to be involved in this universe.  He wen on to say:

"A Power Rangers/Transformers film could certainly ignite the franchise, if done correctly. Then add ROM and the Micronauts to the mix and you have the ultimate geek fest.  But it all depends on Hasbro and Paramount Pictures, what their creative teams can conjure up."

Now I have to admit, while it certainly wasn't  favorite movie of mine, the Power Rangers  movie that they made wasn't all that bad.  It could've been a lot worse, and when I was done watching it, I thought, "Huh.  That wasn't horrible," which is what I look for in a movie.  To quote my friend The Iconoslast, I want to leave the movie in a better mood than when I went in.n  So by that measure, it was a good movie.

Combining all four of these properties into one movie?  That would be SICK!  I hope that they make this happen.  I got the information for this post from BoundingIntoComics.com.  It's a great website, you should check them out.  You can also go onto Facebook and check out The Iconoclast and his videos that bring you up to speed on fanboy news, too/

The Loophole In Endgame That Could Bring Captain America Back

In case you were trying to figure out the above picture, it's Ant-Man (a.k.a. Scott Lang) after the Banner/Hulk tried to time travel him.  Each time he came back, he was in a different stage of his life.  Old, teenager, and yes, a toddler.  While we thought it was fun comic relief for the movie, what if they were actually telegraphing how they would bring back Steve Rogers, the character played by Chris Evans, for a future movie?

Chris Evans decided not to sign a new contract with Marvel to reprise his role as Captain America, so they gave him the storybook ending at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame.  He went back in time and was able to live out the rest of his days with the love of him life, Peggy Carter.  She passed away in the movie Captain America: Civil War, but he survived and met up with Sam Wilson at the end of Endgame to pass his shield over to him.  But what if there was a new disaster that only Captain America could handle?  What if they needed him back?  He's way to old to be of any help, right?

Enter Banner/Hulk, and thanks to the folks over at ComicBook.com, they suggest the following scenario:

"Without the contributions of Tony Stark, Bruce Banner is forced to tackle the issue of time travel by himself.  As Iron Man points out, they sent time through the traveler instead of the traveler though time.  But if they're able to turn Scott Lang back into a baby with all of his memories seemingly intact, what's to stop Steve Rogers from coming out of retirement and rejuvenation his body after living a lifetime with his love Peggy Carter?"

It's a good question.  What would stop them from being able to do this?  It seems that, while this was a funny scene in the movie, it allows Chris Evans to come back to his role if he ever decides to.

What do you think about this loophole that may have been intentionally placed in this movie?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, of you can leave them on my Facebook page.

3 New Plot Lines Coming To The MCU

Disney and Marvel did something that was truly unprecedented when they began the MCU.  It wasn't that they made "comic book movies main-stream," but they created a story that covered the span of 23 movies.  There had never been anything as ambitious being done before.  Now that it has been completed, Disney and Marvel are going to go a different route with their next lineup of "Phases."

Instead of one over arching plot that will incorporate their movies going forward, they are going to actually have three "sub stories" that will cross over all of their future movies.  And now, thanks to me (and the Internet where I read this) I can tell you that the three story plots that the MCU are going to be pushing will involve the stories from the comic books that featured Secret Invasion, Secret Wars, and Annihilation.  The Secret Invasion storyline shouldn't come as much of a surprise, since Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home pretty much set that storyline up.  "Surprise."

Out of the three that they mentioned...okay, it should be said that these are the "Top 3" choices that they are going with, but they could go a different route.  If they regain the property rights to Spider-Man either from Apple buying out Sony, or Marvel is able to purchase the property from Sony out-right, these plans may change.  But back to what I was saying.  The storyline that I am most excited about is Secret Wars.

Most of you probably only know the Secret Wars storyline from the most recent comic book run of the title, but back in the 80's it was a whole different story.  In fact, before they changed up the origin of Venom, it was here that Spider-Man first got his black Spider-Man costume.  It was heroes vs. villains and it was glorious!  The Russo brothers even said that they would come back to the MCU if they would be able to film a Secret Wars movie, so that alone should push the project.

What comic book story lines would you like to see the MCU incorporate?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, or go to try Facebook or MeWe page and leave me a comment there.  If I hear anything else regarding this, I will let you know.

Deadpool Vs. The MCU

Who doesn't think that good things come to those who wait?

There is a rumor going around the Marvel and Disney circles from a very reliable source that KevinFeige and company are working on a Deadpool vs. The MCU movie.  This probably won't be the title (if true), but it would be a very ambitious project if it comes to fruition.

It will be loosely based on the comic book series Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe that was written by Cullen Bunn back in 2012.  He decided that the Deadpool comics didn't push the boundaries enough anymore, so he set out to fix the problem.  It began with the X-Men committing Deadpool to a psychiatric hospital where Pyscho-Man was posing as a  doctor.  He was brainwashing patients to do his bidding and when he tried to silence the voices in Deadpool's head to control him, he actually unleashed even worse voices.  Psycho-Man was the first to die.  The Uata the Watcher.  He roasted Howard the Duck on an open fire.  Killed Doctor Doom, blew up Avengers tower with all of them in it, shot Spidey in the head, stole some Pym Particles and blew up Nick Cage and smashed Thor with an over-sized Mjoinir.  It was epic!

The movie version won't be so bloody (duh...it's Disney).  It will begin with Deadpool starting to lose his mind and he goes after the X-Men and other heroes in the MCU.  By the end he returns back to normal, so it really doesn't sound like anyone is going to die in this one..except maybe Howard the Duck (just kidding).

To be clear, this won't be the Deadpool 3 movie, but a separate project.  I just want to say, whatever it takes to get this movie made, then do it.  And if anyone can pull it off, it's Kevin Feige and company.  I'll let you know if I hear anything else on this project.

I Don't Know..."News" On The Fantastic Four?

You know, when I first found out that Marvel regained the property rights to the X-Men and The Fantastic Four, I was pretty excited.  I felt like, "Finally! Someone will get them right!"  And I was optimistic when I heard that they were eyeing John Krasinski and Emily Blunt to play Reed Richards, and Susan "Sue" Storm.  That made perfect sense because they are actually married and both make amazing movies!  But then something happened.  I read some of the other choices that they may consider to make.

The first kick to the gut came when I read that they were considering Jonah Hill to play The Thing, Ben Grimm.  Then I read that Seth Rogen was also being considered for the part.  If you have ever read even one single issue of The Fantastic Four, you will know that The Thing is not the comic relief of the team, and neither of these two make me think "strong and unstoppable."

The latest rumor now is that they are considering Will Smith to play Mr. Fantastic.  Look, I love Will Smith movies and he's an amazing actor, but Disney is screwing up my childhood with all of these drastic changes!  Look, I get it.  They feel like they need to change things up so they can be more progressive than the DCEU who beat them to the punch with their release of Wonder Woman, and as I stated before, I thought they just threw that scene at the end of Avengers: Endgame  together where they had all of their female heroes in the same shot in order to pander to their critics.  It felt much too out of place and forced.  It didn’t feel natural and it ruined the final battle for me.

I understand that they want a more inclusive MCU that feature heroes from all walks of life and different cultures and ethnicities, but there are actual superheroes in their Marvel catalog that fit feature these different cultures and ethnicities.  Why do they need to change the ones I grew up to that have already been established?  They're changing their history and personalities.  They have already shown us that they are able to make a blockbuster with lesser known comic properties like The Guardians of the Galaxy  and Ant Man.  They could do that again.  Just please stop screwing with the heroes I grew up reading.

Bill Murray Spotted On Ghostbusters 3 Set

If you didn't know this already, there is an official Ghostbusters 3 being made that is bringing back several of the original characters.  It's already been announced that Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, and Ernie Hudson will be returning to reprise their roles in the film, but one name has remained illusive from the cast, and that is none other than Bill Murray.

He's a hard actor to get to read a script or agree to a role, considering he doesn't use an agent or manager, but you would think that his friend Dan Aykroyd would have gotten through to him for a role in this film.  After all, Murray did make a cameo in the Ghostbusters...what was it, a remake? A bad idea? whatever it was, he made a cameo.  So why not this film?

We may be getting closer to finding out if he'll be in it or not, as he was seen having lunch with Aykroyd and Weaver near the location where they were filming.  He may have just been stopping buy to wish them all luck, or just to catch up with two friends who where in town.  Or it could be that he "secretly" has a role in the film.

Whatever it may be, and if we don't find out before hand, we'll all know when the movie gets released on July 10, 2020.

I Hiope This Isn't True...

From the moment that I heard that Sir Patrick Stewart was going to be reprising his role as Jean Luc Picard on a CBS All Access television show, I was jazzed.  So much so, I plan on ordering the site just for this reason.  However, I have recently read something that truly makes me nervous about the show if it turns out to be true.  Now, this is all rumor, and since it comes from a Youtuber, I'm not putting too much credence into it, however, you never know. Just because I don't know the guy doesn't mean he doesn't know a guy.  Let's jump right in...

So this YouTuber "Doomcock," yeah...I can't make this s**t up, it's "Doomcock," is claiming that yes there will be a season 2 of Picard,  but Stewart won't be in it because he costs too much money.  Okay, this is the first one of the "I'm calling bulls**t" on.  Stewart does voiceover work for Family Guy  and American Dad.  You cannot tell me that they have the money to pay Stewart what he's worth and CBS doesn't.  I just don't buy it.  So this guy is saying that they are going to kill him off at the end of the first season and then just follow the rest of his ragamuffin crew starting with season 2 without him.  He says that to honor their fallen Captain, they name the ship after him, the U.S.S. Picard.

He says that if you look at the other series in the Star Trek universe, they all follow the same model, by naming the series after the ship.  You have Deep Space Nine (okay, this one wasn't a ship, but a space station, but potato, potato.  You know, that only sounds good when spoken out loud.  Anyway.) then you have Voyager, Enterprise, and now Discovery.  He surmises that the series is called Picard because Jean Luc Picard will die and they will name the ship after him.

I think that this is a bit of a stretch, but at the same time it isn't a bad theory.  I would just like to think that Stewart didn't just sign on for one season in order to be killed off.  And how would they do it? Would it be a glorious death, or just some random death out in the outskirts of the galaxy where no one would no or care?  I'm hoping that this isn't true, but one thing I've learned from watching television is never to trust the company that makes the program, they will let you down repeatedly (I mean YOU FOX!  Still don't forgive you for Firefly!)

So what do you think about this theory?  Seem plausible, or outrageous?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, on my Facebook page, or over on MeWe.  Until tomorrow!

Disney's Plans For Wolverine In The MCU

Disney is wanting to move quickly (by their measures, not our) with introducing the X-Men into the MCU, and the most prominent figure that they are focusing on is Wolverine.  So who are they going to try and get to play the iconic character that Hugh Jackman portrayed for over a decade?  Hugh Jackman himself!

It's being said that there is a very short list of actors that Disney wants to play the Wolverine, and Jackman is at the top.  It's his if he wants it, but the hairy Aussie has made it perfectly clear that he isn't interested in it.  Although...Jackman did say that he was interested in a Wolverine vs. the Incredible Hulk match up, and it was rumored that this exact movie was in the works, so...maybe?

It might help in convincing him that they don't plan on keeping Logan around very long.  It's being said that they are very interested in bringing X-23 into the MCU as their primary Wolverine.  Makes sense, since they are turning all of their heroes into women (i.e. Thor, and the rumor that they want to introduce a female Captain America).  They have ignored women in the MCU for so long that now they're tripping over themselves to show everyone how "woke" they are.  They just need to be careful that they don't turn off the very fans that made them what they are.  Geeks, most of which are hard core with their devotion to the comics and their history.  Just saying.

It's also being said that they want Hugh Jackman for another role in the MCU, one that would have a more lasting affect to what transpires.  It's rumored that they would like him to play Doctor Doom.  I could see him taking on this role over Logan.  He said that that the workouts and the diets were grueling, so this would let him be more himself, considering the costume he'd be wearing.

While we're on the subject, it's also being said that Marvel has approached Haley Berry to take on the role of one of the X-Men, but no of Storm.  No, it's being reported that they want her to play Kitty Pryde.  Why not?  She already played a Kitty in Catwoman, right?

So what do you think of all of these rumors?  I know, it's a lot to take in, but it's still pretty exciting stuff.  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, or reach out to me on Facebook, or on MeWe.

This Just Keeps Getting Cooler And Cooler!

Fan art at it's finest!

I'm starting to lose track of everybody that's going to be showing up in this year's CW Crisis on Infinite Earths!  It was just announced that Tom Welling is going to come back as Superman, as well as Erica Durance reprising her roll as Lois Lane.  I'm pretty sure that Allison Mack has other plans (cough, cough!), but there are still rumors that Michael Rosenbaum may return as Lex Luthor.  While the two prior mentions have been confirmed, Rosenbaum has not been.  Fingers crossed!

I've already let you know that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will both be appearing for the first time as their voice over characters Batman and Joker respectively.  Brandon Routh will be playing Superman again for the first time since his Superman Returns debut, and now it sounds like there will be a fourth Superman appearing in the crossover event (the third Superman is Supergirl's Tyler Hoechliin).  Keep in mind that this hasn't been confirmed, but the rumor is out there...

It's being said that Dean Cain may be joining this event, and if he really is going to appear, this crossover event will be hard to ever out due.  With all of the names, and the characters that they will be playing or reprising, I really don't see how they will be able to. It should be mentioned, though, that Erica is the only Lois that is said to be coming back, so if you were hoping for a Teri Hatcher return as well, I'm sorry to disappoint you.

With all of these names set to appear, I'm wondering how much screen time each of them will get.  We'll just have to wait until December 8th to find out.

New Strategy For Disney And Spider-Man

Sorry I've been away for a while, work and life and all.  There is a lot I want to discuss, but let's start with the one that drew my attention the most.  It's been said (and this isn't really rumor, just so you know) that Disney wants Spider-Man back in the MCU and instead of trying to work out a deal with Sony, they are just going to try and buy him back.  If anyone out there has the money to do so, it's Disney.

Now this part I can't say for sure is rumor or not, but I heard that Sony wants $10 billion for the property rights.  Obviously, that ain't going to happen.  Let's look at some figures...Disney bought Lucasfilm and the Star Wars/Indiana Jones franchises for $4.1 billion from George Lucas.  Sorry, Sony.  Star Wars is much bigger than Spidey.  The last movie Spider-Man: Far From Home made over $1 billion dollars.  That's not all profit.  Take away the production costs and the publicity, maybe 1/3 to 1/2 is profit.  You do the math on how many movies that they'd have to make in order to get their money back.  Disney isn't going to pay it.  They will come back with a lower offer and then they can negotiate from there.

The thing is, Spider-Man's stock has already gone down for Sony since the announcement of their split.  People don't have faith in the fact that Sony will do a good job with this next movie.  In fact, it's already been announced that they intend to have both The Scorpion and Kraven the Hunter in the next movie.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't one of the biggest problems with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 the fact that they had too many villains in it and couldn't keep a story together? Doesn't this sound like it's starting out to be the same thing?  Sony doesn't have the patience that Marvel has.  They want everything, and they want it now.  And let's not forget about Apple.

Apple is wanting to buy Sony so they can start their streaming service with an already established movie and television catalog.  And I don't think that they'll be buying them for $10 billion.  Also remember that if Apple does buy Sony, the Spider-Man property reverts to Marvel/Disney and the lose out on it here as well.

So what's going to happen?  Your guess is as good as mine, but I will keep you updated as more news unfolds.

New First Appearance Of Deadpool Revealed (Again!)

Disney is quickly moving forward with their plans on introducing Wade Wilson (a.k.a. Deadpool) into the MCU, but it won't be quite a fast as I had reported earlier.

Disney is in a unique position with Deadpool because they already have the actor for the role.  They determined that there is literally no one else that could play the Merc with the Mouth, and are keeping Ryan Reynolds on as Deadpool.  There was word that Disney and Marvel were going to introduce him into the MCU as early as the Black Widow movie, but plans have shifted to Thor: Love and Thunder.  This makes sense, since the black Widow movie has already finished filming, work him in at a more fluid rate, and the Thor movie is the next best choice.

The director of the movie, Taika Waititi, has already said that this is definitely  a Thor movie, with the Blonde God taking center stage. It's also being reported that Kat Denning's is going to be coming back to help out Natalie Portman's Jane Foster.  Since the movie hasn't started filming yet, they really don't have to change anything up in editing to incorporate Deadpool into any of it, since it hasn't begun filming yet.

SO what I posted a couple of days ago is wrong, this looks more right.  But the last leak I reported on was incorrect, so take this with a grain of salt.  Whatever they decide to do, I am just looking forward to Deadpool getting some MCU action and not having to pull the full wait of the X=Men franchise on his own back.  DOn't kid yourself, I saw the last two X-men movies. Deadpool was the only one that was keeping them relevant.  Prove me wrong.  Leave your comments down below or on my Facebook page, or on my MeWe page.  I Look forward to you trying to prove me wrong.  And don't just throw "Jennifer Lawrence's" name up and hopes it sticks, this was a definite low point in her career!

What Is Darth Vader's Role In The Rise Of Skywalker?

There has long been rumors that Anakin or Darth Vader would play a role in the new movie that is set to release this December Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.  But just what exactly will his role be?  We might be one step closer to knowing with this recent leak that claims to know just how he will fit into the new movie.  Just so you know? ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!***

So this is what I have heard...First off, the Emperor is not going to put his faith in another Death Star, but he his incorporating it's technology in a super fleet of "Death Star Destroyers." They all each carry a supper canon, and when combined, offer up the same destructive force.  Too many targets to hit to stop them from attacking.  But I'm getting away from the topic of this post.  It sounds like there is an "unknown female" that will give Kylo Ren some sort of radar device.  It will end up leading Kylo Red to the planet that Palpatine is hiding out on, and he will end up inheriting a mcmuffin that belonged to Darth Vader. Is the radar device said mcmuffin? Not sure yet, but it does kind of flow with the other rumors.

The other rumors are that Rey is actually Palpatine's decendent and will have to choose between the Dark and the Light side of the Force, and of course, old grand daddy is pushing for the former.

Disney and Lucasfilm have been keeping things pretty close to the chest with this movie, so we won't actually know until it's screened for the first time, because let's face it, people can't keep secrets.  If they could, I would be here writing what I am.

Do you think that Anakin or Darth Vader will be making an appearance in this movie?  If so, what role do you think they'll have?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below, or leave a comment on my Facebook page or my page on MeWe.

Dan Aykroyd Will Be Returning For Ghostbusters 3

Ever since the disastrous Ghostbusters movie that came out in 2016, Jason Reitman has been working on a true threequel to the first two Ghostbusters films, and it has now gotten some legs.  It was recently announced that both Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, as well as Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver, will be returning for the tentatively title movie Ghostbusters 2020.  There were some legal issues, but now that those have been resolved, the movie is moving forward.  Bill murray is the one solitary hold out as far as a return goes, but his name is listed as a possibility on the IMDB page for the movie.

Dan Aykroyd recently sat down with podcast and UFC commentator Joe Rogan and had the following to say:

"I'm not in the pictures so much anymore,  We've got the Ghostbusters movie that we're working on now and I will have to be performing in that.  Ivan Reitman's son Jason has written a new movie,,,the third movie.  It will be all...most of the original people and then young stars."

Some of those young stars will include Paul Rudd (Ant-Man and not so young), Celeste O'Conner, Carrie Coon, and Finn Wolfhard.  While not a lot is known about the movie's skips, it will be fun to see these iconic characters back on the big screen.

What do you think about this movie?  Are you excited to see it, or should they just let the franchise die out after that last horrible film?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, or you can leave them at my Facebook page, or on my MeWe page.  Until tomorrow, y'all!

New Frank Miller Comic Coming...

Ever since Frank Miller released the incredible Dark Knight Returns,  which dealt with an aging Bruce Wayne, I have been a fan.  When DK2 was released, I rushed out to but it.  The most recent of his comics was Dark Knight 3: The Master Race.  Now, Miller is about to release a one-shot comic called The Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child.  This comic book, though, will focus on a whole new character.

In The Master Race, Superman and Wonder Woman conceive a second child, Johnathan Kent, brother to Lara, who was introduced in his past works.  After Johnathan's introduction, Miller started coming up with a new idea for a story.  Here's what he had to say:

"The possibilities for what he could be just started coming to mind like crazy.  I thought the contrast between him and Lara could be really exciting.  Lara has so much power and passion, so for the little boy to embody all of the wisdom and intelligence of the Kryptonian race would be an exciting new dimension.  He really sort of developed as a little floating Buddha, someone who when he wasn't even a toddler yet was speaking in full sentences and had an understanding of events that surpassed anybody else's.  He's the most magical member of the family."

He also talked about his creation, Carrie Kelly, who was the new Robin and is now the new Catwoman:

"Carrie is, as always, the smartest kid on the block.  She was also trained by someone who is not cowed by power.  Even knowing that she is not a 'superhero' in terms of powers, she will not accept anything that in any way smacks of subjugation.  Look at her! She began her superhero career by running away from home. She was a rebel from the get go."

If this sounds like a good read to you, know that you will have to waiti until December 11th before you can read it.  Are you still a fan of Frank Miller?  Let mw know what you thing of this newest comic in the comments section down below, or leave one on one of my other sites.

Is Mace Windu Really Dead?

                                             ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!***

There is a lot of excitement building for the final movie in the "Skywalker Saga," Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.  As I have mentioned before, the rumors is that Rey finds out that she is actually the great grand daughter of Emperor Palpatine, but chooses to call herself Skywalker. Her decision will bring balance to the Force.  But how is the Emperor still alive?  Apparently, he survived the fall down the Death Star and has been biding his time, and building a Sith Stormtrooper force as well.  So if he was able to survive the fall down the Death Star, and Darth Maul was able to do the same while being cut in half, why couldn't it be possible that Mace Windu survived his fall?

This is the question being asked by ComicBook.com when discussing whether or not Samuel L. Jackson will be appearing in the final movie. This final movie (yeah, I know I keep saying this like it'll be the last Star Wars movie made, which we know it won't) is rumored to have, and has confirmed to have, characters from past movies.  There will be Leia, Luke, Lando, and it's even rumored that Han will be showing back up in a flash back scene, or vision. So why not Mace Windu?  Samuel L. Jackson is already in like Flynn with the people over at Disney, so it wouldn't be a huge leap for him to return as the purple lightsaber wielding Jedi.

This is all pure speculation, but you never know.  At least we won't know until this December.  Let me know what you think about a possible return of Mace Windu in The Rise of Skywalker in the comments section below, on my Comconoclast Facebook page, or on the Comconocave MeWe page.

How Spider-Man Could Return To The MCU

I'm only going to be able to do one post today (I apologize), but just got off of a 13.5 hour shift and I'm really tired.  But I thought this was interesting enough to share before dozing off.  I know that there has been a lot of back and forth over whether or not Spider-Man will stay apart of the MCU, and to be honest, with all of the tug-of-warring going on with him, he's more like Stretch Armstrong than our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.  So what is it going to take to get him back into the MCU?  The answer might be a purchase of Sony.

Apple has been wanting to get into the streaming business for a while now.  For them to do this, it would be easier for them to just purchase an existing company than try to go through all of the troubles of negotiating with studios and companies to get the rights for streaming.  It's been long rumored that Apple has been interested in purchasing Sony.  While Sony's CEO has openly said that he's not interested in a buyout, money does talk and Apple has plenty of it to spend.  So this could actually happen.

So what does this have to do with Spider-Man?  It's in Sony's agreement that when they purchased the IP of Spider-Man that if the company was ever sold, then Spider-Man would revert to Marvel (yes, "revert" not "revert back." You can't "revert back" to something.  This bothers me when I hear it.  Do you know how many authors make this mistake?  Sorry, I digress.)  The long and short of it is, if Apple buys Sony, they lose Spider-Man, it goes back to Marvel, and then bing bang boom...he's back in the MCU.

I'm not much for large companies getting too much of a hold on things (like Disney and every movie property out there!) but I am actually pulling for this one to happen.  Since Sony thinks that they have talented writers (you know, like the ones that gave us The Amazing Spider-Man 2) this might be the only option out there that could save us from another disaster.

I want to know what you all think about this, though.  Would you be for it? Against it?  Let me know by posting your comments in the section below, or you can reach me on Facebook at Comconoclast or on MeWe under Comconocave.  Look forward to hearing from you.

Is This Character Coming To The Star Wars Universe After All?

I remember when George Lucas opened up the Star Wars Universe to writers to tell their own tales in his Galaxy Far, Far Away.  While Disney and Lucasfilm haven't embraced every character that was introduced in the Expanded Universe and what is now called Star Wars Legends,  there are some that are making the transition from Legend to Canon.  One of the most popular of these has been General Thrawn, but there is one character that I would argue that is more popular than Thrawn that is rumored to be making the same transition, and that is none other than Mara Jade.

Mara Jade was Luke Skywalker's wife in the Expanded Universe and was able to wield the Force as well.  She had been Brain washed by the Emperor and became his right-hand woman, made to do his bidding, Luke was able to free her from the clutches of the Emperor and they eventually got married and have a child together who they name Ben.  The movies have changed this up, Having Han and Leia's son being Ben, where as in the Expanded Universe Han and Leia had twins Jacen and Jaina.  But I'm getting away from the subject here...

It's being rumored that Disney and Lucasfilm are in the early stages of developing a Mara Jade series for Disney+, but this hasn't been officially been confirmed bu Disney/Lucasfilm.  If this turns out to be true, it will be a huge win for fans of the Expanded Universe and it will be interesting to see how they incorporate her into Canon.  Will her and Luke have been married, or did they even meet for that matter?  I'm looking forward to more news on this front, and I will keep you updated as soon as I find out more information.  Let me know what you think about this by leaving a comment in the section below (and make sure you follow me here!) or you can reach out to me on Facebook by going to The Comconoclast,  or you can find me on MeWe.  Just type in Comconovace in the search engine, and follow me there.

If you have anything that you want me to talk about, make sure you let me know and I will look into it.  Until next time..

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol....4?

Disney and Marvel have done a pretty good job of keeping their movies at the number three.  There's Iron Man, Captain America, Thor...oh, wait.  That one's getting a fourth installment.  This can almost bee overlooked because it sounds like Disney/Marvel are set to revamp the Thor franchise by making Natalie Portman's Jane Foster the new Thor. So is it really a "fourthquel?"

Writer and director James Gunn has said that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be his last outing with this crew of space pirates, but that hasn't curbed Marvel's desire to keep the franchise going.  It just sounds like we will get a new set of characters for Vol. 4.

There is a rumor going around that the series could keep moving forward after Gunn's Vol. 3.  They will introduce a new line up of characters that will continue to save the universe, and tie up all of the loose ends of the current crop of misfits.  This means they will either go their separate ways, or be killed of in the next movie.  The most likely character to eat it will probably be Rocket.

Guardians Vol. 3 is still a long ways away, do don't expect any official announcement on this development any time soon, but it is worth mentioning since it's one of Marvel's biggest franchises.  I'll keep you updated if I hear anything else.  Let me know what you think about this in the comments section below, or you can find me on Facebook and I have now been posting on a MeWe page as well, so look for me there and make sure that you follow my page.

Silver Surfer Movie Is in The Works

This picture is just bad-ass!

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Marvel is moving forward at a fast pace to integrate the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the MCU.  Their purchase of these characters from 20th Century Fox has made them a priority to their story telling, and rumor has it that Doctor Doom and Galactus are going to be the next Big Baddie now that Thanos is gone.  But what is surprising (and impressive) is that it seems that Disney and Marvel are moving forward with a Silver Surfer movie before tackling the other characters.

This is the report from Geeks Worldwide.  They are saying that "Vice helmsman Adam McKay," who had shown interest in making a Silver Surfer movie just last year, may be working with Kevin Feige (the putter master working all of the strings for the MCU) on getting this done.

While it's not been confirmed that McKay will be involved, the idea of a Silver Surfer movie would make sense as they are trying to introduce Doctor Doom and Galactus (both of which are characters that have felt or deal directly with the Silver Surfer) into the MCU. It would also be a good launching point for the MCU's Fantastic Four.

Like I said, this hasn't been officially announced yet, but it is a pretty good bet that this rumor is true.  I will keep you up to date on any new developments or rumors regarding this film.

Robert Downey Jr. To Appear In Black Widow Movie

Tony Stark may have died in Avengers: Endgame, but he keeps showing up in MCU movies.  He made an appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home and now he's set to appear in the movie Black Widow.  It's kind of dampening the loss we felt since we keep getting new movies that he's a part of, you know?  Anyway, we now know more about Robert Downey Jr.'s appearance in the Black Widow movie, but it's not really anything new, while at the same time, it is.  Let me explain...

Marvel is going to be using unused footage that was shot during the movie Captain America: Civil War.  It's a scene that was shot where Tony tells Natasha to run away after the fight at the airport, "which is what sends her to go into hiding with Steve Rogers and the rest of the Secret Avengers." (quote taken from Sam Plank  with We Got This Covered.)

So while it's not a new scene that was shot for the movie, it'll be a new scene that we haven't seen.  Do you think that Marvel's continued use of Tony Stark diminishes his death in Endgame, or do you want to keep seeing more of him?  Let me know in the comments section below, or leave a comment on my Facebook page.  Either way, I'm curious as to how you feel about this.
