Edge Of Tomorrow Sequel In The Works

For those of you that went and saw the movie Edge of Tomorrow, you know how much fun it was to watch.  As Chris Agar put it, it was "Aliens meets Groundhog Day."  As good as the movie was, though, it seemed to tie thing up pretty well in the end, and while it did pretty good in the theaters, it's hard to see where they could go if they decided on a follow up movie.  This problem seems to be something that writers Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse have been thinking about for a while now, and from what they are telling us, have found a solution for.  It also sounds like director Doug Liman agrees with them.  In an interview with IGN he told the site, “Yeah, it’s going to revolutionize how people make sequels. It really will.”  That's some pretty big bluster for a movie that hasn't come out yet, or even has been made yet.  Still, the first movie itself was pretty ambitious and they were able to pull it off quite well.

It's hard to get an original movie out there to the masses and have them excited to want to go out and see it.  Everything now days seems to be sequels or a part of a shared universe, so viewers for the most part know about the characters or storylines before going and seeing these films.  Reboots and remakes are other areas that allow viewers to know what they are going to be in store for when they go and see these films.  For Edge of Tomorrow to do as well as it did, that's something to be impressed by, and now it's getting ready to have it's own sequel made.  Welcome to what everyone else is doing, guys!

Two reasons why the film was such fun to watch was one, Tom Cruise, and two, Emily Blunt.  These two had a great rocky start to their relationship and it was fun watching Cruise try and convince Blunt who he was and that they'd already met over and over again.  While the movie should have both stars returning, not much else is known about what they have planned for the sequel.  I'd be surprised if they decide to repeat the Groundhog Day part of the first film.  If they're going to do this right, they need to find a different angle to explore, and not just give us an updated movie of the first one.

So what do you think about a sequel being made for this film?  Were you one of the ones that saw thins movie in the theaters, or did you wait until it came out on DVD?  Did you like the flick?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

God Particle Will Be The Next Movie In The Cloverfield Universe

JJ Abrams is hard at work on bringing us the next installment in the "Cloverfield Universe."  The first movie in this series was Cloverfield, which came out in 2008 and was the brain child of Abrams himself, which showed us a monstrous kaiju wrecking havoc all across New York City.  It was shot in the "Blair Witch" style of photography, and never really had an actual ending.  It left a lot of questions unanswered.  The second movie in the series was 10 Cloverfield Lane, and was released as a surprise because nobody even knew that the movie was being filmed.  While the movie wasn't a an actual sequel, it did reference things in the film that eluded to the fact that the two movies did in fact exist in the same shared universe.  Now, we're told that early next year we'll get the third movie in the Cloverfield Universe, called God Particle.

We don't know if this movie is going to be a direct sequel to either of the previous two films, or be an offshoot that also happens to take place in the shared universe, but it was said that the movie will help tie the other two together more.  The movie will feature a group of astronauts that are on a space station orbiting the Earth, and they make a terrifying discovery.  The movie will feature actors David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd.

It sounds like Abrams has a pretty big plan for this series, saying that he wants to release a new Cloverfield Universe movie every year, so he must have a lot of stories that still wants to share.  My guess is as long as they are bringing in money, then we'll keep getting movies in this shared universe.  The trailer for God Particle should've come out yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to see if it was released yet.  The movie, though, will be released February 24, 2017.

Temporary Name For Deadpool 2 Announced Amid Director Search

After the success of the first movie, it's looking like the sequel is all sorts of crazy going on.  Director Tim Miller has left the project, which seems to be over "creative differences" with Ryan Reynolds.  From what's being reported, the two had a disagreement over who should be hired on to play Cable.  This excuse seems a little hard to swallow, even if it is true.  It would seem to me that a director would want to hire an actor that would compliment the star and had a sort of chemistry with the guy, but if the rumors are accurate, this was not the case.  Miller wanted to hire Kyle Chandler for the role of Cable, while Reynolds and the rest of the creative team for the film didn't think that he was a good choice.  While this may seem like a huge blow to the film (and it kind of is) there shouldn't be too much worry for the sequel.  Like the credits said in the first movie, the real heroes of this film are the writers, and the two from the original film are writing the second one.  Which brings me to the topic of today's post, the new (and maybe temporary) title of the movie.

It was revealed that the working title for the second Deadpool movie is Love Machine.  I can't help but think of the Billy Griffin song when I see this title, but that's neither here nor there.  Working titles are used for a couple of reasons.  The first is to try and deceive fans from learning too much about the film before it's released, and the second is to use it as a placeholder for the film crew.  If this does in fact remain the title of the film, it may suggest that after winning back the heart of Vanessa, there may be a little bit of a rift between the two when Domino shows up.  We'll just have to wait to find out.

What do you think that the second movie should cover?  Any storylines from the comic books that you are wanting to see?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

Deadpool: (a.k.a.) Love Machine will hit theaters January 12, 2018.

Could Joss Whedon Be Directing A Star Wars Movie?

When Star Wars began it's comeback with The Force Awakens, everyone was excited when it was announced that JJ Abrams was going to direct the film.  Everyone was equally disappointed when Abrams announced that he wasn't going to direct Episode VIII.  That got people talking about who should take over the directing job for future films.  One of the most popular choices that people wanted to see sign on was Joss Whedon, but Whedon said he had no interest in filming a Star Wars movie.  That is, until recently.

Whedon was talking with Complex recently, and the topic of Star Wars came up, and if he would ever consider directing one of it's movies. Here's what Joss had to say:

"Do I want to make a Star Wars movie? Yeah. I was like, 'I don't want to make a Star Wars movie. Like, god dammit, why?' But I saw the trailer for Rogue awhile ago and I was like, 'I want to do that.' To make a Star Wars movie and not be wed to the bigger picture."

I can understand this sort of mentality when it comes to directing a movie.  When you jump into an ongoing story, while you may be directing the film, the story is one that you have to follow, and that might limit what you want to do with the film.  However, a stand alone film would allow you a lot more freedom to tell the story that you are trying to tell.  These Star Wars "Anthology" films are giving directors that sort of freedom, without interfering with the story being told in the "Episode" movies.  Now, the Han Solo movie that is scheduled to come out in 2018 already has it's directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, so the earliest that Joss would be able to direct an Anthology film would be 2020, when the rumored Obi-Wan Kenobi film is scheduled to be released.  The subject of that film may change, especially if Whedon signs on and has a different idea to pitch at Lucasfilm.  The fact that Joss helped make the Marvel Cinematic Universe such a huge success also works in his favor, seeing how both Marvel and Lucasfilm are own by Disney.  Being familiar with a talented directed and having worked with him before would make his pitch (if he has one) for a stand alone to be taken more seriously, I think.

So what do you think?  Would you want to see a Joss Whedon directed Star Wars movie at some point?  What sort of story do you think he would tell?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

Star Wars: Rogue One will be released in theaters on December 16, 2016.

What Happens When You Take The Psycho Out Of Harley Quinn?

That's an interesting question...what does happen when you take the psycho out of Harley Quinn?  She wasn't always like this, you realize.  She was once Harleen Quinzel, a successful psychiatrist that was tasked with helping the Joker while he was locked up in Arkham Asylum, but the more that she worked with him, the more she lost her own grip on reality.  Now she's the lovable, murderous scamp that we've all come to know and adore...but what would happen if she had the chance to revert to Harleen again after being Harley for so long?  This December, we are going to find out!

Don't worry, this won't be a permanent change, but it will make for an interesting story.  The December release of Suicide Squad #8, which will be written by Rob Williams with art work by Jim Lee and Scott Williams, will have the Suicide Squad "manipulated" by general Zod's "Black Vault," which, as described in the article that I read, "turns all of the Squad's psyches inside out, making everyone but Harley into hyper, delusional bizarre-versions of themselves."  Many thanks to Emily Gaudette for bringing us her article on this issue.  Gaudette goes on to say that while everyone in the Squad goes super-crazy, Harley's reaction to the Black Vault has a different affect.  Since Harley is already living as "the living embodiment of a mental break" when she is subjected to the Black Vault, it basically cleans out her like a heavy dose of anti-psychotics, and turns her back into Harleen.

The care-free and wild Harley that we have all come to know seems to be very happy with her psychotic break, so what will happen to her when she returns to her original "sanity?"  Will this break her even further, or will realize that she misses being sane, or will she miss being the devil-may-care Harley and try to get back to that state of mind?  We won't know until this December.  If you are a fan of Harley Quinn, then Suicide Squad #8 is going to be a must buy!

X-23 "Confirmed" To Be In "Logan"

Last week, 20th Century Fox released the very first trailer for Logan, and now they are releasing more information about the movie.  The young actress that is seen in the trailer, Dafne Keen, is in fact playing Laura Kinney, a.k.a. X-23.  While not from the official Fox website, the Instagram account belonging to wponx released a head shot of Keen with the word "Laura" underneath it.

Like Harley Quinn in the DC comics, Laura Kinney got her start on the animated television show X-Men: Evolution, and also like Harley Quinn, her popularity caused Marvel to include her in their comic books and gave her a backstory.  In the comic books, Laura Kinney was created from the DNA that had been obtained from Logan, at a Weapon X offshoot called The Facility.  In the movie, however, it looks like she'll have been created at Mister Sinister's Essex Corporation,  It's not unusual for a movie to take creative liberties in their story telling that differ from the ones from the comic books, and it looks like this will be the case here.  Considering that it was being said that they were pulling inspiration from the comic book storyline Old Man Logan for this film, and they had to change quite a bit of it for the movie, it's not that surprising.  In the comic books, Laura has come into her own as an X-Men, and has even taken over the mantle of Wolverine, after Marvel killed off Logan a few years back.  This has led some to speculate that Hugh Jackman's character in the film might not make it out alive.

So have you all been able to watch the trailer?  What did you think?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.  Logan hits theaters March 3, 2017.

Logan Trailer Drops, And It Looks Griity...And GOOD!!!

Before I begin, I have to apologize.  The only videos that Blogger has available with regards to the trailer are "Fan Reaction" videos, and honestly, I hate those and won't subject you all to them.  So before reading any further, go to the following link for YouTube so you can watch the trailer yourself:

Now, if you've just watched the trailer and you are back reading this, then you must have been intrigued.  They told us that this was going to be unlike any X-Men movie that's come before, and they weren't lying.  The dark tone definitely shows us their intent in making an R-rated movie, and the use of the Johnny Cash song made the tone for the trailer very dark. We hear Logan saying, "Charles, the world is not the same as it was.  Mutants.  They're gone now."  Does that mean that they've all been killed?  Why were the Professor and Logan the only two to have survived then?  We also meet a little girl, who I'm assuming is X-23, a.k.a. Laura Kinney.  They don't actually show her using her powers...well, that might not be quite true.  There is one scene where it looks like Laura is getting tossed into another person, but she could also be launching herself at the guy to attack.  A different version of the trailer also shows Logan defending himself from someone that also has claws...two claws from each hand to be exact.  That's the same as X-23.  The people chasing them in the trailer, I'm guessing that they work for "Mister Sinister," who is being reported to be the villain in the film.  While we might not have been given much in the way of the plot, it's still an exciting trailer to watch.

Something that my friend Ken told me yesterday (Ken is one half of "The John and Ken Show" from BYBI over on YouTube) I hadn't really noticed, but after going back and watching it, had to admit that he's right.  He said the trailer for the movie reminded him of the popular video game "The Last of Us."  Go ahead and watch them both and telling me what you think.  They do look quite similar.

So what do you think?  Did you like the trailer?  Are you looking forward to seeing the movie next year even more since viewing it?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.  Logan hits theaters March 3, 2017.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Teaser Trailer Released

Yesterday a teaser trailer for next summer's Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 was released. and it gave us the first look at the crew of the Milano since we saw them in the first movie.  Things have changed quite a bit since then.  Check out the trailer down below:

I'm still trying to figure out what the deal is with all of those falling bodies Yondu and Rocket are walking through...weird.  Probably the biggest change is to Groot.  Vin Diesel recently sat down for an interview and talked about the changes since the first movie:

"The first movie was really about becoming a family. This movie is about being a family. And what's harder, becoming a family or being a family? I think it's being a family. That's where you really have to deal with each other. And that's what this movie is about. And their sisters. They are family, whether they like it or not. And they also want to kill each other, so it adds a new twist to being a sister."

I think that it's a pretty safe bet that Guardians of the galaxy vol. 2 will be the biggest blockbuster of next year...and yes, that's taking into account the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII.  You'll get to see Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 when it gets released next year on May 5, 2017.

Arrow Fan-Favorite Might Be Returning Tonight

One of the biggest successes that Arrow has given us were the episodes featuring the Suicide Squad. They even teased a small screen "appearance" of Harley Quinn, but we never really got to see her, and she was only given a scant few lines.  The real star of the Suicide Squad was Michael Rowe's Deadshot.  He was given a great story with flashbacks and all, but he was ultimately killed off after Warner Bros. announced that they were making a Suicide Squad movie, and Deadshot was to be one of the main characters (played by Will Smith).  It made it sound like the movie company didn't want to share characters with the television side of things. However, now that Supergirl has made it's way over to The CW and they've introduced Superman into the series, maybe things are letting up a bit.

It seriously sounds like it, especially since Green Arrow TV is reporting that Rowe will be reprising his role in tonight's episode "A Matter Of Trust."  While they haven't heard how his character Deadshot will return, it's being speculated that the events from Flashpoint over on The Flash may have altered the timeline enough that Floyd Lawton (a.k.a. Deadshot) never died.

Now, this is all purely speculation and nothing has been confirmed, but we'll find out soon enough this evening.  With both Superman and Gotham City having been acknowledge to exist in the "Arrow-verse" (even if Superman only exists in a parallel universe) maybe the movie company side of WB is relaxing their grip on what the television show can and can't do.  It would make sense, considering their television shows seem to get better reviews than their movies.

Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8 pm on The CW.

Should Wolverine Die At The End Of "Logan?"

When Logan hits theaters later next year, it will bring a close to one of the most iconic roles ever to be played by an actor...with the exception of, I don't know...maybe...James Bond?  But they had more than one actor play that role.  Only one actor has ever played Logan!  So how do you end a role that has spanned over sixteen years?  Maybe you should kill him.

That's the question that's running around in a lot of fans' minds with Logan so close on the horizon.  Would that be a fitting end to Hugh Jackman's role as the Wolverine?  Some are saying yes.  Let's look at the source material...

It's widely known that a lot of what we are going to see in Logan was taken from the comic book Old Man Logan,,,how they can say this is beyond me, considering all of the main characters in the story seem to belong to Marvel and Disney, but I digress.  At the end of the story, Logan walks off into the sunset with Baby Banner to pick up his life where he left off...as a hero.  Oh, "Baby Banner' was the inbred offspring that Bruce Banner fathered with one of his kids that he had with She-Hulk.  At least I think it was She-Hulk.  It's been a while since I read the comic.  Either way, his family tree didn't fork at all, if you understand what I'm saying.  So if they try and stay true to this storyline, then Wolverine will walk off into the sunset to fight another day.  Except...

The Marvel's main universe Wolverine died a few years back when he was incased in molten adamantium and presumably dies.  I say "presumably" because let's be honest!  No one stays dead for long in the comics!  So if they go off of the "main" Wolverine character, then they could kill the guy.  It wouldn't be that bad of an idea.  Let's face it, Wolverine has been the face of the X-Men for the past decade and a half.  They need to move on past him and have the franchise gain an identity of it's own.  One without Wolverine.  They can pass the torch on over to X-23 or Mystique or something (which it seems like they've already done...sorry, I'm over the whole Jennifer Lawrence phase of the franchise) and if they do decide to reinvent Logan, then the best way to do it is to do an origins story.  Start out with him as a child, and let us watch him grow up into the beast that he is with the new actor.  Give us a reason to want to watch the new guy.  Think X-Men Origins: Wolverine but with an actual plot.

So that's my two cents on the whole matter.  What do you think?  Do you think that they should/need to kill Wolverine at the end of the movie?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

Logan Keeps Teasing Fans With Black And White Photos

Welcome to the start of a new week, people!  The above picture was released last week and hints to the reality that the upcoming movie Logan, the third movie in the Wolverine franchise, is following (to some degree) parts of the Old Man Logan storyline from the comic book.  As I have mentioned a few times, it won't be possible to follow it completely, since a majority of the characters that appear in it are properties owned by Marvel and Disney, and two of the characters that look to be in it weren't even in the comic book at all.  So how is it that one little black and white photo can make me say that they are following parts of the Old Man Logan story?

In the comic book, Logan ends up killing all of the X-Men after he was tricked by Mysterio, and goes into seclusion and refuses to fight ever again.  In fact, in the story, all of the heroes were killed and the ones that survived went into hiding.  So if you look closely at the photograph up above, someone scrawled into the bathroom stall, "Where are all the Mutants?"  It looks like the movie Logan will be set in a future that doesn't have the X-Men or any of the other heroes in it anymore.  So what happened to them all?  The simple answer to that question is...I don't have a clue.

The movie takes place in the not-so-distant future, happening in 2024, and from the set photos, it looks like the world has changed quite a bit.  The only two X-Men that are confirmed to be in the movie are Professor Xavier and Logan.  It's been rumored that X-23, a.k.a. Laura Kinney, will be making her big screen debut, although it hasn't been officially announced that she'll be in it.  However, another photo that was released pretty much shows us that she is.  check it out below:

If that hand isn't Laura's then I'm not sure what to make of this photo.  Logan is set for release March 3, 2017.

Five Movies To Cover Fantastic Beasts Storyline

I guess that sometimes it's hard to walk away from something that you love.  At least, that seems to be the case for writer J.K. Rowling.  She once said that The Deathly Hallows would be the last time that she would write a Harry Potter story, but has kind of gone back on that statement, writing a stage play called The Cursed Child and writing "history" for her beloved characters from the books and novels on "Pottermore," a website that allows her to revisit the stories with updates, and also talk about how she feels about certain things and characters since finishing the tale.  I guess all of this nostalgia has got her juices flowing again, seeing as that she's returning to the "Potter-verse" with the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.  It's not just going to be a one time thing, though.

We had learned earlier that there was already a sequel planned for the film, but the other day Rowling announced that the story will actually consist of five movies...and she'll be the one writing the screenplays.  This is actually good news, because although Rowling didn't write The Cursed Child, she got a lot of the blame for the story because it changed the main characters up too much for the liking of a lot of Harry Potter fans.  Oh, by the way, Jack Thorne was responsible for that play's screenplay.

One of the things that it looks like Rowling is planning on doing is to tie this movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, closer to the Harry Potter world by not only giving us an adventure featuring Newt Scamander, the author of the text book that Harry and his friends use while studying at Hogwarts, but also by including some of the dark history that Harry learns about in the original movies.  Example?

While we don't know how big of a part this dark wizard will have in the series, with the story filling up five movies worth of tales, it's safe to assume that at some point we will actually be getting to see this dark wizard.  So if you are a Harry Potter fan, and enjoy the stories that Rowling has spun, then get ready for a whole new (and same) world.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them comes out in theaters November 18, 2016.

I'll be back on Monday!

Could This Animated Movie Really Be Happening?

If this thing really gets made, it could be pretty good.  I was reading an article on Wegotthiscovered.com and they were talking about how earlier this week there was a two-day theatrical release of the new animated movie Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, and at one particular theater, they were handing out surveys to people asking their opinion on possible future WB animated projects.  The most interesting one that was mentioned was a possible Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.  Last year DC and IDW teamed up for a comic book crossover featuring the two properties, and it was a fun comic to read.  It was so good, in fact, that there's going to be a follow up to it this November called Batman/TMNT Adventures.  In the first run, it showed how the two meet, where this next one would be a combination of Batman: The Animated Series and the current TMNT cartoon that's airing on Nickelodeon.  If they were able to get the okay from Nick to get this movie made, it could turn out to be something worth watching.

One of the other movies that they were asking about would be a follow-up to their Batman '66 title, Wonder Woman '77.  This could also be a fun title to watch.  It would be similar to the Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders movie (being released on Blu-ray November 1, 2016).  And since they were able to get Adam West and Burt Ward to return to voice the Dynamic Duo in this film, why couldn't we see Linda Carter returning to voice Diana Prince in this one?  How cool would that be!  Both Batman '66 and Wonder Woman '77 are currently available as comic books, we a crossover between the two in the works, but so far a Wonder Woman '77 movie is just being considered right now.  They may be waiting to see how Return of the Caped Crusaders does before deciding on it.

The other movie that was on the survey was Swamp Thing.  He's already set to appear in animated and live action versions of Justice League Dark, but allowing him to have his own solo film could be pretty huge for the guy.  While he's not one of the more popular characters that DC has, he still has a faithful following and could be their next big thing in animation.

So if you were able to decide what WB animation would work on next, what would you like to see get made?  What storyline would make for a good movie?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

Supergirl Gives CW Record Breaking Monday Ratings

Supergirl has now officially become apart of The CW, and she flew in with an attitude!  While the show languished on CBS, her season 2 premier gave the network it's highest ratings for a Monday 8 pm to 9 pm television show in almost eight years.  I think that the addition of Superman to the mix may have helped her a little bit, but I'm more inclined to think that it's the fans of the network and their shows that wanted to see her join The CW's DC universe.  Now they have...sort of...

While Supergirl is now apart of The CW's family of superhero shows, her reality is still going to be separate from the rest of their DC lineups, which actually do share the same universe.  There was some speculation that the events from the season finale of The Flash, which hinted correctly at the show using the comic book storyline Flashpoint when season 3 premiered, would some how merge Kara's universe in with that of Oliver and Barry's.  That's not going to be the case, though.  I'm guessing that producers thought that would be too easy of an explanation. No, her universe is going to remain separate because they are not ready to introduce aliens into the other universe.  I know, alternate universes and super powered heroes and villains is believable, but introducing aliens into the mix is a little far fetched?  I'm not fretting, though, I'm sure they have a direction that they want to take both universes.

Instead, when Supergirl joins the wildly popular DC Cross Over Event, she'll be heading over to the "Arrow-verse" roughly the same way that Barry made it over to hers when they did their crossover episode last year on Supergirl.  This is where they lose me, if the fact that they really didn't want Supergirl to join the Arrow-verse because she's an alien...this year's crossover event actually deals with aliens!  Here's what Marc Guggenheim has to say about this season's crossover event:

“This year, for our mega ‘Arrowverse’ crossover, we’re taking inspiration from a DC crossover from the late 1980s known as Invasion!, which featured an alien race called the Dominators, who’d previously vexed the Legion of Superheroes. We’re using cutting edge prosthetics and computer effects to achieve a feature film-quality look which is faithful to Invasion! artist Todd McFarlane’s interpretation of the characters.”

Maybe they just want to ease her into the "Arrow-verse" without trying to look too anxious, eh? Makes more sense to me than the previous explanation.  Regardless, Supergirl is here to stay, and she's already made a great first impression for The CW.  You can check Supergirl out Mondays at 8 pm on The CW.

Is Marvel's Television MCU Going To Merge?

Like I said in yesterday's post, a lot of interesting news was learned this past weekend at New York Comic Con.  It's quickly beginning to surpass San Diego as the premier Con to go to, especially because Disney's Marvel division doesn't seem to shy away from it like they do San Diego.  I told you yesterday about Sigourney Weaver joining The Defenders project, but as interesting and exciting as that was, it's not the only news that got people talking when it comes to the television side of the MCU.  During one of the panels, there was the expected question from one particular fan asking if we'd ever get to see a Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Netflix shows doing a cross over.  Jeph Loeb, the head of Marvel TV answered, "Fair question.  The answer is: stay tuned."  In a roundtable discussion with Screen Rant, Loeb elaborated a little bit on his answer:

"I get in trouble every single time I say this, which is #ItsAllConnected. But trust me when I say #ItsAllConnected and that’s about all I can say on it at this time."

He then went on to explain the difficulties in bringing the two sides of the Marvel television universe together:

"One of the things that’s a challenge and it’s unlike the movie studio because the movie studio is making all of the movies for one place and that’s the theaters. The theater owners don’t get to say well we don’t want Spider-Man to be in Captain America — in that particular case Sony and Marvel had to work that out so that could happen. But in the case of what we do, we have networks to consider and that’s a conversation [for] ABC and Netflix — and now we have shows at Hulu and Freeform and FX [as well]. So it just becomes a question of once it starts, what have we unleashed? But it’s certainly a topic of conversation."

I think one of the biggest hurdles that the two companies will have to overcome is their competing formats.  ABC, which airs Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., airs their programs on a week to week basis, while Netflix releases the entire season all at once so viewers can binge-watch.  This may be the hardest thing to overcome, since I don't see one company allowing the other to use their properties without having the favor returned in kind.  One or the other format may mess up the flow of the plot of the other's, but it does sound like something that they are pursuing.  If I hear anything else about this cross-over happening, I'll be sure to let you know.

Sigourney Weaver To Take On The Defenders

This past weekend was the New York Comic Con, and to be honest, I think that this one has surpassed the more popular one in San Diego as being the biggest and best.  Their "Artist's Row" is ten times the size as San Diego's, and it seems to me that Marvel and Disney keep avoiding San Diego's because it's too close to their own convention, D23.  New York happens long after both of those conventions, and if Marvel is wanting to release some big news near the end of the year, then New York is where they do it.  In fact, that exact thing happened during the convention when it was announce that Sigourney Weaver would be playing the main villain in the upcoming The Defenders which will premier next year on Netflix.  The Defenders will combine all of the Marvel superheroes from their respective Netflix series into one fighting team.  It will include Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones).

Last week during an interview, Sigourney Weaver teased that she couldn't talk about the rumors that she would be joining the MCU, and speculation was that she would be appearing in either Captain Marvel or the sequel to Ant-Man.  Those rumors were put to rest when she was introduced at The Defenders panel this past weekend in New York.  While it isn't yet known whom she will be playing, her being attached to the project is pretty big news.  It's also not known how all of the superheroes will be brought together to fight as a group.  They've pretty much focused on their own enemies in their respective shows, although one of the henchmen that appeared in Daredevil also crossed over to Luke Cage.

One of the possibilities is that The Defenders will focus on the super-soldier like chemical cocktail that was talked about that gave the user super strength and reflexes, although it had some mind-altering side affects.  There was an implied connection between this and the top secret information that Luke Cage's late wife Reva was hiding, which then was revealed to be connected to the same experiments that were given to Cage that gives him his bullet proof skin.  This is just a theory, and until the series premiers, we won't know for sure.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Rumored To Introduce Elders Of The Universe

To begin, I'd like to apologize for yesterday's post.  I had written it the day before, and had no idea that it would be taken down.  You can thank the people over at Disney for that one.  These companies need to relax a little bit, and let the fans create their tributes to their favorite films...especially if they aren't profiting from it.  Disney's not the only one that's going this, CBS Paramount and Paramount Pictures is still moving forward with their lawsuit against the fan film Star Trek: Axanar, even though earlier it was said that it had been dropped.  These types of actions will hurt companies by going after the fans that pay to see their movies.  Fans will eventually turn their backs on them.  So again, I apologize.  Let's move on...

With Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 coming out next year, rumors and hints as to what's going to be in store for us have slowly begun trickling out.  We know that Kurt Russell will be playing Ego, The Living Planet, and he will turn out to be Star Lord's father.  With his introduction to the MCU, many are speculating that the movie will also introduce the Elders of the Universe, a group of ancients that are the oldest beings in the universe, and the last of their race.  It's being said that some of these roles have already been cast, but that the characters haven't been completely fleshed out.  That means that while we may learn about the Elders in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, we may not actually see them until a movie at a later date, possibly being a vital part of Avengers: Infinity War.

Schmoes Know was the first to report on the Elders being an integral part of the movie, and that at least four of the Elders will appear in the film.  They claim (even though James Gunn has denied this) that Benicio del Toro's "Collector" will be one of the Elders appearing, Elizabeth Debicki's "Ayesha" will be another, and Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone will play the other two, but their characters haven't been named yet.  Jeff Goldblum is set to play "Grandmaster" in Thor: Ragnarok, and his character is also one of the Elders.

Again, these are all rumors, and shouldn't be quoted as fact.  The only way we are going to know what's to happen is to go see the movie when it comes out May5, 2017.  I think it's safe to say that Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 may be one of the most anticipated Marvel movies that's coming up.  One last thing, I'm going to be taking the weekend off, but I'll be back here on Monday.  Just giving everyone a heads up!

Animated Indiana Jones Hits It Right On The Mark!

There's not really a lot to be said in today's blog, it's one that you have to see for yourself.  It's created by artist Patrick Schoenmaker, which he has worked on over the last several years.  It's for a nonexistent animated series for Indiana Jones, and it's incredible to watch.  Someone needs to get this guy working on this thing full time, and fast!  Check it out for yourself down below:

I was just informed that the video was taken down due to "copyright infringements," so I apologize.  If you can find it online, make sure you give it a watch!

Sigourney Weaver's Possible Roles In The MCU

Sigourney Weaver set the interwebs on fire the other day while giving an interview   In an interview with Wired, she talked about how impressed she was with the caliber of actors that Marvel Studios has been able to obtain, and when she was asked why she was focused on mentioning Marvel Studios at that moment, she replied:

"I can't tell you!"

That was all it took.  Those four little words set fans off trying to figure out if she would be appearing in a Marvel movie, and if so, who would she be playing?  There are two possibilities that come to mind when discussing this topic.  The first movie could possibly be the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, since she brought up both the movie and Brie Larson during the interview.  If she was to join that film, there's no indication as to what type of character she would be playing.  Right now, though, this seems to be the most likely project.

However, unless she's pulling a rope-a-dope and steering us away from the actual project.  Another possibility is that Marvel wants her for the sequel to Ant-Man, Ant-Man and The Wasp, which comes out in 2018.  They may be having her play Janet Van Dyke (the original Wasp) in that movie, instead.  This one seems more unlikely, because it's been rumored that both Michelle Pfeiffer and Sharon Stone have been in the running to play this role, too.

Whatever Weaver's role will be in the MCU, it's sure to have an impact.  You don't throw the Queen of Sci-Fi movies into a movie for a cameo role.  Maybe we'll learn more about it during on of the Con's going on next year?  If something comes out before that, I'll be sure to let you know.

Ben Affleck's Solo Batman Film Now Has A Working Title

Sorry about taking yesterday off, I needed a day to refresh for a bit.  While I'm at it, though, and just to give you a head's up, there will be a few weeks that I'll be away the closer we get to the holidays.

So the other day it was announced that the working title for the upcoming Ben Affleck solo Batman movie is going to be The Batman.  While that doesn't really sound like big news, some of the other things he talked about were a little more interesting...like why he chose Deathstroke to be the villain in the new film.
“He’s a great villain because—I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with him well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52 the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work.”

I have to admit that I like his choice of character for this film, if for no other reason all of the other villains seemed a little played out in film.  This will be Deathstroke's first time on the big screen, although fans of the hit show Arrow will be quick to point out that it's not the first time the character has been cast.  The take on the character from DC's "The New 52" is a good choice, as well.  When Slade Wilson was first introduced, he was primarily an enemy to the Teen Titans, but as his popularity grew, so did the number of appearances he made in other DC titles.  When "The New 52" was created, Slade was no longer a young pup and only came out of retirement to protect his legacy.  Slade is a killer, and was given enhanced powers by the military, and has been one of Batman's most popular advisories.  The older version of Deathstroke also makes more sense, putting him more along the lines of Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne.

While date has been firmly set for The Batman, DC and Warner Brothers are saying that it is at least "a year and a half" out from being released.  I'll let you know when the actual date is once it's announced.

Nightwatch May Be Appearing In Spider-Man: Homecoming

No, that isn't a picture of Spawn up above, it's the villain Nightwatch, and he's being rumored to appear in in Spider-Man: Homecoming, because they already don't have enough villains appearing in that movie already.  The reason behind this rumor is that Bleeding Cool is reporting that Sony employees have been "buying up any and all comic books that feature [Nightwatch]," which is something that they say "usually indicates that a character is planned for an upcoming movie and all the employees want to know everything they can about them, ahead of meetings, discussions, plans, and merchandising strategies."  While this might not seem like much to base this assumption on, rumors like this have appeared in the past after production companies have sought out comic book material on certain characters that end up making it on to the screen in some form or another.  This might just mean that Nightwatch will make a brief appearance, like Spidey taking him out in the first few minutes of the film, and it'll be it, but buying up all the source material on the guy that they can seems like overkill if he's only going to be making a brief appearance.  They may also be setting him up for the next Spider-Man film, and he'll only be making a brief appearance at the end to get people prepared for him in the future.  Who knows?

When I say, "Who knows?" regarding this film, I mean it.  Marvel and Sony still haven't sent out any press releases yet that tell us who all of the actors in the film are actually going to play.  A few have been confirmed, but for the most part, we don't know a majority of who the actors will be playing.  Sony and Marvel are playing this very close to the chest.

Nightwatch was created in 1993, when Dr. Kevin Trench witnessed a costumed man die in battle.  When Dr. Trench removed the man's mask, he discovered it was him from the future...kind of like a superhero version on Looper. even though he tells himself that he'll never wear the costume, that way avoiding his untimely death, he ends up putting it on and becomes Nightwatch.  Nightwatch made appearances across a few different titles, and even had his own short lived solo series.

So what do you think?  If this rumor turns out to be true, how excited are you to see him appear?  Are you excited to see him appear?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

20 Year Old Easter Egg In Superman Comic That Everyone Missed

How many of you reading this collected and read the "Death and Rebirth of Superman" comic book storyline?  It was by far the most widely read and probably the most popular comic book at that time.  After his battle with Doomsday, and Superman "died," the world was introduced to four "new" Supermen.  One of the four, the Cyborg Superman, was deemed the "official" Superman by the President of the United States after he stopped a terrorist attack on the White House.  He could remember Lois Lane, the Kent Farm, and other memories of the original Superman.  This was because he was created using Clark Kent's DNA.  As we all know, he ended up being the ultimate villain, teaming up with Mongul, helping destroy Coast City, and by proxy, destroyed Green Lantern Hal Jordan.  All of this came to a head in Superman #80.  As surprising as this was to readers, artist Dan Jurgens left fans a small Easter Egg in the previous issue, Superman #79, and the page that has the Easter Egg on it is posted up above.  Can you spot it?  Give it a little time...

Okay, if you spotted it, then congratulations!  You're just 20 years too late! Ha!  If you still don't see it, let me narrow it for you:

These three panels show Coast City, Mongul's spaceship, and Green Lantern.  It was forecasting what was going to happen in the following issue, but without context, it was easily overlooked.  Even though this is basically a twenty year old story, I still thought it was cool enough to share!
