Sigourney Weaver To Take On The Defenders

This past weekend was the New York Comic Con, and to be honest, I think that this one has surpassed the more popular one in San Diego as being the biggest and best.  Their "Artist's Row" is ten times the size as San Diego's, and it seems to me that Marvel and Disney keep avoiding San Diego's because it's too close to their own convention, D23.  New York happens long after both of those conventions, and if Marvel is wanting to release some big news near the end of the year, then New York is where they do it.  In fact, that exact thing happened during the convention when it was announce that Sigourney Weaver would be playing the main villain in the upcoming The Defenders which will premier next year on Netflix.  The Defenders will combine all of the Marvel superheroes from their respective Netflix series into one fighting team.  It will include Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones).

Last week during an interview, Sigourney Weaver teased that she couldn't talk about the rumors that she would be joining the MCU, and speculation was that she would be appearing in either Captain Marvel or the sequel to Ant-Man.  Those rumors were put to rest when she was introduced at The Defenders panel this past weekend in New York.  While it isn't yet known whom she will be playing, her being attached to the project is pretty big news.  It's also not known how all of the superheroes will be brought together to fight as a group.  They've pretty much focused on their own enemies in their respective shows, although one of the henchmen that appeared in Daredevil also crossed over to Luke Cage.

One of the possibilities is that The Defenders will focus on the super-soldier like chemical cocktail that was talked about that gave the user super strength and reflexes, although it had some mind-altering side affects.  There was an implied connection between this and the top secret information that Luke Cage's late wife Reva was hiding, which then was revealed to be connected to the same experiments that were given to Cage that gives him his bullet proof skin.  This is just a theory, and until the series premiers, we won't know for sure.
