Sigourney Weaver set the interwebs on fire the other day while giving an interview In an interview with Wired, she talked about how impressed she was with the caliber of actors that Marvel Studios has been able to obtain, and when she was asked why she was focused on mentioning Marvel Studios at that moment, she replied:
"I can't tell you!"
That was all it took. Those four little words set fans off trying to figure out if she would be appearing in a Marvel movie, and if so, who would she be playing? There are two possibilities that come to mind when discussing this topic. The first movie could possibly be the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, since she brought up both the movie and Brie Larson during the interview. If she was to join that film, there's no indication as to what type of character she would be playing. Right now, though, this seems to be the most likely project.
However, unless she's pulling a rope-a-dope and steering us away from the actual project. Another possibility is that Marvel wants her for the sequel to Ant-Man, Ant-Man and The Wasp, which comes out in 2018. They may be having her play Janet Van Dyke (the original Wasp) in that movie, instead. This one seems more unlikely, because it's been rumored that both Michelle Pfeiffer and Sharon Stone have been in the running to play this role, too.
Whatever Weaver's role will be in the MCU, it's sure to have an impact. You don't throw the Queen of Sci-Fi movies into a movie for a cameo role. Maybe we'll learn more about it during on of the Con's going on next year? If something comes out before that, I'll be sure to let you know.
