Length Of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice DVD Revealed

When Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was first announced, it was presumed to be the first big blockbuster of the 2016 movie season.  As it turned out, it was the second after the release of Deadpool, and even though it pulled in more money than Deadpool, there was a lot more criticism of the DC film than was expected.  The two main complains were one, it was too dark, and two, it was too long.  As far as the first complaint goes, Zach Snyder has maintained that the tone was necessary for the story being told, and has promised that the Justice League films will be lighter and more fun.  Regarding the second complaint?  It sounds like the release of the movie on DVD and Bluray may bolster this gripe.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice clocked in at just over two and a half hours (151 minutes).  The "Ultimate Edition" which will be released on DVD and Blu-ray will be just over three hours (181 minutes) and will be rated R.  The reason for this change in rating is due to the fact that it's added more action and violence that was seen as "to intense" for the PG-13 rating.  I believe that after seeing how well Deadpool did at the theaters with an R rating, the decision was made to put it all back in for the DVD and change the rating.  Both versions will be made available, but the "Ultimate Edition" with also include cut characters that didn't make it into the theatrical version, like Jena Malone's character, who is rumored to be Barbara Gordon.  It may even touch on the death of Robin more and explain how it happened.  Heck, they might have even filmed Robin getting killed at the hands of the Joker, and that was the "added violence" that they're referring to.  We'll just have to wait and see.

So what are you hoping to see in the "Ultimate Edition" of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?  Do you even want to see it?  I think it's pretty smart as far as marketing goes.  The movie's already made $854 million worldwide, and offering a different version will help the movie continue to generate money.  Leave your thoughts and comments in the section down below.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice "Ultimate Edition" will be available July 16.
