Thor: Ragnarok May Give Us The Closest Thing To A Planet Hulk Movie

Sideshow Collectibles King Hulk With Sword Thor: Ragnarok Character Details & Planet Hulk Connections

Got this picture off of Screenrant!

From what I've been reading, we may actually get a Hulk decked out in armor and wielding a sword like the image in the picture above.  In the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok we are going to be seeing the only two Avengers that didn't appear in the movie Captain America: Civil War team up for an off-world adventure.  It's not being said how Mark Ruffalo's Hulk ends up on being another planet fighting in some sort of gladiator-type arena, but it's going to be happening.  The fights are going to be presided over by the Grandmaster, which will be played by Jeff Goldblum, and it will give viewers the closest thing we'll see to a "Planet Hulk" movie.

In the comic book, the world's heroes trick Bruce Banner into leaving the planet Earth because they thought that he was too big of a risk to civilians.  This kind of jives with how the planet sees the Hulk after everything that took place in Avengers: Age of Ultron.  In that movie, the Hulk went on a tear across a town after his mind was taken over by the Scarlet Witch, tearing up everything in his path.  At the end of that movie, we see Hulk flying off in a Quinjet and disappearing.  The Quinjet's location was found to be in the middle of the ocean, but the Hulk wasn't with it...so what happened to the Hulk?

Early speculation as to what happened to Banner at the end of that film is that the Grandmaster plucked the Hulk out of the Quinjet to fight in his gladiator games.  This would explain why the Quinjet went down and also for Hulk's disappearance.  The Grandmaster is one of the Elders of the Universe, like the Collector in Guardians of the Galaxy.  He is as old as time itself, and finds pleasure in putting together tournaments that make different creatures fight against one another for his own amusement.  When Thor runs into the Hulk again during Ragnarok, it's in one of these games where he finds him.  I don't know if they end up having to fight one another, but I'm sure that Thor will want to get a little payback for that sucker punch that he got from the Hulk during the first Avengers movie!

It seems that Marvel is starting to move away from films that feature just one of their characters.  One of the things that made the Avengers films so popular was the fact that we got to see all of our favorite characters on the screen at the same time, but now we see multiple characters show up in the character-titled films.  In Thor: Ragnarok we'll see Hulk and Thor team up, in Captain America: Civil War we saw all of the other Avengers show up, in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Homecoming Tony Stark will be making an appearance, and in the sequel to Ant-Man the Wasp will be making her debut.  It's also be supposed that either Captain America or the Winter Soldier (or both) will being showing up in the Black Panther movie.  The reason they are doing this is because it sells better to audiences, so don't be surprised if it becomes more and more rare that we'll be given a comic book based movie that only features one character.

So what do you think about a "Planet Hulk" version of the Hulk in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok movie?  You excited?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.
