Are There Problems Going On With Star Wars: Rogue One?

Now, before I go any further, it should be mentioned that these rumors are being reported by the "infamous Page Six off-shoot of the New York Post," so anything that they're saying should be taken with a grain of salt.  However, whoever their source is regarding these rumors, they do jibe with other sites reporting similar things.  Let's get started.

After this past weekend's disastrous debut of Alice Through The Looking Glass, Disney is getting nervous that the stand-alone prequel to the Star Wars universe won't live up to the hype.  It's being said that there is a quiet war going on between Gareth Edwards and the studio on what should and shouldn't be in the film, and it's also being reported that the movie isn't testing as well as studio officials had hoped for.  Because of these two things, the rumor is that Disney is ordering a number of reshoots that will take place over the summer. Over at Cinemablend, they believe that the reshoots that are going to be done will feature more Darth Vader.  It seems that the early version of the film only used him sporadically, but now they intend to have more ligthsaber battles and more Force wielding for the Dark Lord of the Sith. The website said that a lot of fans of the Star Wars universe are expecting to see a lot of Darth Vader in the upcoming prequel, and if it wasn't testing well with people, it may have been because there wasn't enough screen time for the man in black.

This movie has always been a gamble for the company, seeing as it's the first stand-alone story to be featured in the Star Wars universe, but in order to see returns on the money that they spent purchasing it from George Lucas, they are also wanting to expand that universe, giving us a Star Wars movie every year for the foreseeable future.  Having said that, it should also be mentioned that reshoots aren't that out of the ordinary for a film before its release.  The studio always expected additional shooting and "second unit work" to be done on the film in order to give us the best possible movie experience, and even the actors were aware that there could be addition shooting for the film after its initial work had been completed.

Disney butting heads with their directors is nothing new, either.  It was common knowledge that Edgar Wright and the studio execs over at Marvel (which Disney owns) were in constant disagreement on the direction that they wanted to go with the movie Ant-Man, so Gareth Edwards and Lucasfilm (also owned by Disney) clashing over creative differences should come as no surprise.  As long as their arguing and differences regarding the movie aren't widely reported, then it really shouldn't affect the build up to the movie.  However, it should be mentioned that the infighting that was reported over at Ant-Man made some people less than enthusiastic about seeing the film and may have hurt it's overall box office numbers. Whatever is happening over at Disney, they need to get their act together quickly.  The movie is scheduled for release December 16 at the end of this year.

Are you all excited for this film to come out, or are you a little weary about a stand-alone story being given to us outside of the main "episode" timeline?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.
