One of the breakout hits at the box office this year was the surprise runaway hit Deadpool. After a horrible debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, 20th Century Fox finally got it right and did the comic book character right. At the end of the movie, in a Ferris Bueller's Day Off inspired teaser, Deadpool announces that yes, there will be a sequel, and that yes, Cable was going to be appearing in the movie. This was later confirmed by the movie studio, and speculation has been crazy around who they'll get to play the Merc with a Mouth's frenemy. While there have been a few names that have been mentioned by fans that seem to top the list of favorites, one that hadn't even been on the radar of most people may have just landed the coveted role.
Kyle Chandler, who most people will recognize but might not know his name, has been rumored to have signed on to play Cable in the Deadpool sequel. Most famous for his Emmy-winning role in the television series Friday Night Lights, Chandler has also appeared in movies, such as Super 8, Zero Dark Thirty, Wolf of Wall Street, and also the Netflix original series Bloodline. Chandler usually plays roles that require a serious demeanor, which would perfectly compliment Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson, so this may actually have been the perfect choice for Cable. But again, these are just rumors at this point, 20th Century Fox hasn't confirmed or denied them, but they do look to be true.
Now I said that there were "two" actors that looked to have been signed on for the Deadpool sequel. We've just discussed Chandler possibly becoming Cable, now let's move onto Domino. After it was announced that there was going to be a sequel to Deadpool, fans almost immediately speculated that Domino was going to be appearing in it. According to the same leak that said Chandler was going to sign on to play Cable, Domino is in fact going to be appearing in the movie, and they say that Mackenzie Davis will be taking on the role. Best known for her role in the movie The Martian, she has also signed on to appear in the movie Blade Runner 2. While Davis isn't quite a household name, it seems that Fox is expecting her to become the next breakout star, and wanted to sign her for the role of Domino before that happened and they might lose her to other projects.
While these are still just rumors, if they do turn out to be true, it sounds like Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have a pretty good idea of what they want to give fans, and who they want to play these roles. There has been no official release date for the movie, but it sounds like the studio is shooting for a January 2018 release date. If any of these rumors get confirmed by the studio, I'll let you know.
So what do you think about the prospect of Chandler and Davis joining the Deadpool sequel? let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.
