Marvel's Cloak And Dagger

Marvel is doing it's best to compete with DC when it comes to television shows.  While DC is dominating on network television, Marvel is slowly starting to come into their own.  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to be finding their audience, and their Netflix series has been wildly popular, although they seem to be geared for a more mature audience, leaving younger viewers behind.  That exclusion of the younger audience is looking to get fixed when Marvel's Cloak and Dagger debuts.  It will be airing on Freeform, which used to be ABC Family.  Back in April, Variety did an article on the upcoming show and had this to say about it:

"The live-action interracial romance follows the duo, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love — Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging."

Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb talked a little bit about the show, as well:

“It’s a love story that happens to have characters that have always traditionally been in that age group. It’s not like we took something and made it into a YA. It speaks to a YA audience and is a YA property. Would I do Punisher on Freeform? I don’t think that’s going to connect the same way.”

The article on Blastr.com which was written by Trent Moore described it as Pretty Little Liars but with superpowers.  Interesting choice for a television series.  Cloak and Dagger first appeared in Marvel comics back in 1982, and have been making appearances all across the MCU since then.  I'm going to assume that it will also be tied into the greater MCU, but if they are, I'm not expecting to see them make an appearance in any of the movies, much like the Marvel characters from the Netflix shows.

No word on when it will premier, but as soon as I find out I'll let you know.
