This Is Why James Gunn Is One Of My Favorite Movie Makers!

James Gunn Defends Marvel, Praises Deadpool, In NSFW Rant image

I know what you're thinking.  Why do I have a picture from the Deadpool movie when it sounds like I'm going to be talking about James Gunn (a.k.a. Super Director) in this blog?  Simple!  He so artfully and eloquently explained/defended the success of the movie while teaching a "Hollywood suit" why he's an idiot for his comments on the Deadpool film.  Keep biting the hand that feeds you, Gunn!  They won't touch you, not with your successful track record!  This guy is great!

Okay, here's how it all started.  After it was announced that after only three days in theaters, Deadpool pulled in $150 million domestically, and over $282 million internationally, Deadline published an article by someone that Cinemablend.com refers to as a "Hollywood suit."  The article went on to say that "said-suit" had "complimented Deadpool for having a 'self-deprecating tone' and said that Marvel Studios would never make fun of themselves like that."  Okay, this killjoy sounds a little jealous over the success of Deadpool.  Nobody likes a sore loser, bub.  So now Mr. James Gunn decides to respond to this person's comments, and he does so in such an epic fashion!  Please note, I tried to edit some of the words for the sake of our younger readers, but you'll get the idea:

"COME THE F*CK ON. That's no reason to rewrite history. This quote has to have been said by the dumbest f*cking Hollywood exec in the history of dumb f*cking Hollywood execs. Let's ignore Guardians for a moment, a movie that survives from moment to moment building itself up and cutting itself down - God knows I'm biased about that one. But what do you think Favreau and Downey did in Iron Man? What the f*ck was Ant-Man??! … Deadpool was its own thing. THAT'S what people are reacting to. It's original, it's damn good, it was made with love by the filmmakers, and it wasn't afraid to take risks."

New...favorite...director...ever!  Gotta love a guy that not only does great work, but defends other people that do great work, whether or not they are a part of the movie studio that you work for/with.  A great movie is just that...a great movie, no matter who produces it.  But "Hollywood suits" only see dollar signs, and not what was actually created.  Has this guy even seen the movie, or just the returns?  My guess is that it's the latter.

So go see Deadpool, which is in theaters now, and make sure that you go see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which comes out May 5, 2017.  See it to show your support for Gunn, but more importantly, go see it because it will be great.
