Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets

Valerian

French director Luc Besson has chosen his next project.  Fresh off the success from the movie Lucy, but better known for directing The Fifth Element, Besson is getting ready to tackle Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.  He announced the project on his Twitter account, which also gave us the names of two of the actors that will be starring in it.  Well, one actor and one actress.  The two Besson named are Dane DeHaan, who starred in Chronicle, and more recently The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as Harry Osborn/The Green Goblin, and Cara Delevingne, who is currently working on the movie Suicide Squad as the Enchantress.

Besson will be writing and directing the film which will be based on the graphic novel series created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres.  It will follow Valerian and Laureline (DeHaan and Delevingne, respectively) as they travel to "Syrte, capital planet of a system of 1,000 worlds.  Their mission is to discover whether the Syrtians could present a danger to Earth" circa 2700.

Filming is expected to begin later this year, and the movie is slated for release in 2017.
