The X-Men Cinematic Universe Is About To Get Even Bigger!

With the second X-Men trilogy about to come to a close with X-Men: Apocalypse, and Hugh Jackman hanging up his role after the third Wolverine movie, the X-Men property seems to be coming to a close for FOX...or is it?  Deadpool is soon to be making it's way to movie theaters, and there's a Gambit movie in the works, but both of those only focus on one individual character.  In order to fill the void that the X-Men movies are going to leave, FOX is now turning their attention to The New Mutants!

The studio announced the other day that they have hired writer/director Josh Boone, best known for The Fault In Our Stars, for the spin off, and it will be co-written by Knate Gwaltney, best known for Nitro Circus.  The film is going to be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.

The team is hoping to capture the energy of the team, a bunch of teens that are still in training and haven't quite come to terms with the extent of their powers, and not completely able to control them yet.  This group will be anything but the X-Men team we've come to know and love, but I have a feeling that they are going to bring their own style to the screen that people will truly enjoy.  The members of the team haven't been decided on quite yet, but as news trickles out, I'll let you know what they say.
