We Now Know Who Rey Really Is...Maybe

Ever since the title came out for the new movie Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, people have been wondering who the "Skywalker" was referring to.  There were rumors that it was referring to the Jedi, who had been Skywalker's in the past, they were rumors that it would deal with Luke or Anakin in some capacity, or that it would deal with Rey.  Now we may know exactly who they are talking about, thanks to a reported leak by a reliable source.  I know that you all get tired of me saying this, but just so you know...***POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!!!***

So the leaker is the same source that told us back in May that Disney was going to be creating an Obi-Wan series for Disney+, which was confirmed at D23 last month, so this might have a little weight behind it.  The Skywalker that is being referred to in the title is...wait, I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me set the stage for what's being said.

It's been said that the reason that the Emperor has such a keen interest in Rey and wants to turn her over to the Dark Side of the Force is because she is in fact his granddaughter.  He enlists Kylo Ren's help in doing this, but by the end of the movie, she rejects her lineage (and the Dark Side) and instead chooses to call herself Skywalker and accepting the Light Side of the Force.

This kind of makes sense as far as the title of the movie goes, because she is emerging (or as the title says, she will "Rise") as a Skywalker, She might not be one by blood, but she will be one by choice.  In fact, the final scene of the movie shows Rey settling down on Tatooine at Luke's old home.

If all of this is true, it will bring the entire saga full circle and with Rey taking the name Skywalker, essentially ending the galaxy wide feud that has taken place between Palpatine and the Skywalker's.

So what do you think about this latest revelation?  Do you think that this plot twist of Rey is plausible, or do you think that it's a bit of a stretch?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, or go to my Facebook page, The Comconoclast, and leave your comments there.
