Well, That Was Quick!

That didn't take long!

Yesterday I posted that Phil Lord and Chris Miller had been fired from the Han Solo movie.  It turns out that they were trying too hard to make the movie more of a comedy than an action adventure film, which didn't fly with Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan.  I also said that there hadn't been a replacement director for the film at that moment.  Several hours after posting yesterday's blog, Disney and Lucasfilm announced that they had hired Ron Howard to take over directing duties for the film.

I could give you Howard's resume and list all of the amazing movies that he's directed, but if you're reading this post, I'm sure you already know all about Ron Howard.  After the announcement was made yesterday, Howard sent out a tweet that said, "I hope to honor the great work already done & help deliver on the promise of a Han Solo film."  The movie has been in production now for four months, and still has three weeks left to shoot, so it will be interesting to see what bits of the "comedy" Lord and Miller were trying to make will be used by Howard, and how he will incorporate his own style of drama into the final project.  Because he was hired on so quickly, there has been no announcement made saying that the movie will be pushed back from it's original release date.  As of this moment, the movie is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018, but if I hear that it has changed somewhere down the road, I'll let you all know.
