The Flash And Harry Potter Universes Are About To Collide

It seems that Slytherin's very own Draco Malfoy has been signed on to join the cast of The CW's The Flash.  It's being reported by TVLine that Tom Felton will be appearing on the show as "Julian Dorn, a fellow CSI at the Central City police Department who suspects there's more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation."  His character is described "as intelligent as he is intuitive," and he knows that Barry is hiding something.  Felton's hiring is a break from the usual for the program, seeing as he's not a CW alum and had never appeared on Glee.   I can't take credit for that last line, it was written by Screenrant's Andrew Dyce, but I thought that it was a funny bit of information that holds true.

The character of Dorn isn't one that's been pulled "directly" from the comic books, so his true intentions for season 3 aren't yet known.  He may be a bad guy, or he may just be playing a thorn in the side of Barry, a thorn that knows that Barry is keeping a secret, but doesn't know how big of a secret it is.  So whether he ends up being an ally or an enemy remains to be seen.  I'm hoping that he ends up being an ally, and that he sticks around after season 3 is complete.  Felton adds a nice new bit of energy to the show, and considering that it was revealed that the season 3 premier episode's title is Flashpoint, just adds to the excitement. 

Now that we know that the writers are going to use the Flashpoint storyline, albeit with changes from the comic book storyline, it raises a lot of questions that were left unanswered after season 2's season finale.  We know that Barry went into the past and changed a few things, so when (or if) he comes back, will he be the same Barry Allen, and will he be returning to the same universe that we've watched over the last two seasons, or will it be an alternate one that is so similar that we don't know that it's not his?

Whatever we find out, Felton's experience and charisma will lend a powerful presence to the show.  The Flash season 3 premier will be October 4, 2016 at 8pm on The CW.
