Zorro Reborn Is The Latest Stupid Reboot

This is a really bad idea, but what else do you expect from Hollywood any more?

The last time that we saw a good Zorro movie was 1998's The Mask of Zorro.  The sequel was less than stellar, but compared to what the this next one is going to be like, it was Oscar-worthy.  Fresh off the success of Mad Max: Fury Road, get ready for Zorro Reborn, a futuristic post-apocalyptic take on the masked swash-buckler.  No, really.  It's going to be a sci-fi Zorro film.

Look, I grew up watching old reruns of the Zorro television show, and I remember going to see Zorro, The Gay Blade when it came out in theaters.  I thought that The Mask of Zorro was incredible retelling of the tale, but this?  Didn't Hollywood learn anything after giving us Jason X?

Right now there is a legal battle going on to determine who, if anyone, owns the rights to the character, or if he's public domain.  There's no telling when a decision will be handed down, but for our sake, and the sake of Zorro, let's hope that the winner isn't the one that is planning on making this Gawd-awful film.

And movie studios can't figure out why ticket sales keep going down...
