What The Hell Is Going On With The DCEU's Batman Movie?

Nothing seems to be going right for Warner Bros. and DC's Batman movie, if everything that we've heard about it is true.  First, we heard that WB was fast-tracking the movie because of the popularity of Ben Affleck's portrayal of The Dark Knight and that he was going to write and direct the movie.  Then we heard that he was stepping down from the director's chair and was handing the reigns over to Matt Reeves, but that they were going to keep the script for the film that had been produced.  Next we heard that Ben Affleck wasn't going to star in the movie at all, but at San Diego Comic Con while appearing on the WB and DC panel to promote the upcoming Justice League film, he said that he would keep on playing Batman for as long as WB would let him.  After that news came out, it was revealed that the script that Affleck helped write was no longer the story that the movie was going to follow, and that a whole new script was being written.  And now, the latest news about this film comes from none other than Ben's brother Casey, who said during an interview with WEEI Sports Radio while promoting A Ghost Story, said this:

“I thought he was an OK Batman. No, I thought he was great. He was great. He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there. But he’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think. Sorry to say. Is that breaking news? Because I was just kind of making that up, I don’t know.”

Okay, I know those last two lines are going to be scrutinized as being what he had just said was nothing more than a joke, but if you listen to the actual interview, those last two lines were only spoken after the two interviewers where like, "Wha????"

Look, chances are these were just the ramblings of a younger brother thinking out loud.  He just got caught doing this in a recorded interview.  Still, it makes me wonder just what the hell is going on with the DCEU's Batman movie?
