Ryan Reynolds sent the above picture out of Josh Brolin as Cable for the upcoming Deadpool 2 movie, and he's looking pretty badass...even with the Teddy Bear strapped to his hip! We've been teased with photos of Brolin making the change to Cable for his new role in the X-Men Marvel Universe, but this is the first picture we've been given where we get to see Cable in all his glory. You get a great look at his cyborg side, as well as the scarring on the side of his face from the techno-organic virus that he was infected with as a child by Apocalypse. While his appearance looks very much like his comic book version, expect changes to be made to the cinematic version of the character. There's one thing that doesn't look they plan on changing though, and the Teddy Bear is the clue.
In the comic books, Cable (a.k.a. Nathan Summers) was tasked with being the protector of Hope Summers, the first naturally born mutant after "M-Day" event (look it up). He took her to the future to protect her from those that thought that she may be the antichrist destined to kill millions, while others thought that she was messiah figure for all mutants. The Teddy Bear may be a slight nod to her possible appearance in the X-Men Marvel Universe in the near future.
There have already been talks about crossing Reynolds' Deadpool character over into other X-Men films, and it seems that they're using his popular movie franchise as a launching point for certain X-Men characters, too. Domino will be making her first appearance, along with Cable, as well as some of the New Mutants. Could it be possible that Hope could be making an appearance in Deadpool 2 as well? Probably not, but her inclusion into the X-Men universe could help Fox finally fix their continuity problem.
There have been a lot of problems with keeping the X-Men timeline in order, and when X-Men: Days of Futures Past came out, it was suppose to fix all of it, but there still seem to be some issues. With Cable and Hope traveling through time, this may be able to explain the problems in the complexity that Fox has created with their movies. Only time will tell if this takes place, though.
Deadpool 2 will come out in theaters on June 1, 2018. New Mutants will come out April 13, 2018, just a month and a half earlier that Deadpool 2.
