Check out the picture for the "straddling bus, a new concept for mass transportation developed by the Beijing-based company Transit Explore Bus. Their design for the bus will allow it to hold 1,400 passengers, will be 200 feet long (60 meters) and be 26 feet wide (8 meters). It will also allow vehicles that are less than 7 feet tall (2 meters) to drive underneath it. The straddling bus will run on electricity, helping to cut down on China's ever increasing smog problem. It's size would allow it to replace about 40 conventional buses and save over 880 tons of fuel annually, reducing about 2,730 tons of carbon emissions from their air. This design will also be cheaper to construct, rather than creating a whole new subway system for the country's cities. While it's still in the concept phase, the company hopes to have a working model ready to go sometime in late July. You can check out their concept for the straddling bus in the video below:
So what do you think? How would you feel riding it, or if you are a driver, how would you feel seeing this thing barreling towards you on the road? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.
