We all know that 20th Century Fox is planning to expand their "X-Men Universe" by making a New Mutants movie and an X-Force movie. They're hoping the latter might be able to allow Ryan Reynold's Deadpool character to join the larger X-Men universe to pull all of their properties together, a la Marvel's Avengers. Since Deadpool is already an established box-office hit, in order for them to garner interest in their upcoming X-Force movie, they are going to introduce several of them to us in Deadpool 2. Here's a list that I pulled off of WeGotThisCovered.com that tells us who they are and a little bit about each one:
Sunspot
Real name Roberto DaCosta, Sunspot is a mutant character who first manifested his powers at the age of 14 when he was playing in his championship soccer match for his school team in Rio de Janeiro. In doing so, he realized he can become cloaked in darkness which was done in an effort to stop a bully. Absorbing all of the light increases his physical strength.
Feral
Real name Maria Callasantos, Feral is the sister of Thornn who first appeared in New Mutants #99 in March of 1991. The cat-like mutant has a feline appearance, enhanced senses and agility, an impressive healing factor, sharp claws, fangs, and a prehensile tail. She has a lot in common with a really mean cat.
Shatterstar
Real name Gaveedra Seven, Shatterstar has existed in Marvel Comics under several aliases which include Benjamin Russell, Star, and Star Face. He is the son of Dazzler and Longshot and, thanks to the time travel story lines often created in comics, is responsible for the creation of Longshot. Shatterstar is known to have eyes which appear to be clear or silvery, hollow bones, and being lighter than the average person.
We also know that Cable, who was the first leader of the X-Force team in the comic books, will also be appearing in the movie, played by Josh Brolin. Brolin is also playing Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so if his character survives the next two Avengers movies and Marvel and 20th Century fox come to some sort of agreement like Marvel did with Sony, I'm not sure how they'll handle it. It might not make much of a difference, since Thanos is basically just a CGI character. He could play Cable and voice Thanos without any issues coming up. But that's just pure speculation on something that may never happen.
It doesn't sound like these X-Force members will have a very big impact on the movie, and may only appear in the post-credits scenes, and will probably be added to the movie after the initial filming has completed, since they haven't cast anybody for these roles yet. Kind of like what the Russo brothers did while filming Captain America: Civil War. They shot the scenes with Spider-Man in costume with a stand-in actor until the role was filled by Tom Holland, and then added his scenes after the initial filming had all but been completed.
So while their appearances may be small and short, we'll get a closer look at some of the X-Force team when Deadpool 2 arrives next year.
