One of the best duos in movies has been Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. They done a number of movies and television shows together, which include Spaced (television), Shaun of the Dead (movie), How Fuzz (movie), At World's End (movie), and Paul (movie). Their comedic timing and obvious on/off screen friendship make these actors two of the most fun to watch when you want to escape from reality for a while. This is why I was excited to hear that they're teaming back up for a new project.
Deadline is reporting that Pegg and Frost have started their own production company Stolen Picture. Their first project that they will be doing is a movie called Slaughterhouse Rulez, which will be reminiscent of their movie Shaun of the Dead. It's being billed as a romantic comedy that's also a zombie movie.
The movie will take place at "an elite boarding school," which the students nicknamed Slaughterhouse “where boys and girls are groomed for power and greatness, and they’re about to meet their match.” It's protagonist, Don Wallace, is an average person who isn't prepared for “a baffling new world of arcane rules and rituals, presided by sadistic sixth formers.” All of the students at the boarding school are obsessed with their status there, with Clemsie, the "school goddess," being at the top of the pecking order. A fracking company comes to town and begins to work on the school grounds, it unleashes "unspeakable horrors, and a new hierarchy is formed in which “pupils, teachers, and the school matron become locked in a bloody battle for survival.”
The movie is being written and directed by Crispin Mills, with help from co-writer Henry Fitzherbert, and will be produced by Pegg and Frost. While there has been no release date announced, Sony has agreed to back the film, and will also (presumably) be releasing it. When I get more information about the film, I'll let you all know, so in the mean time just keep an eye out for more news on Slaughterhouse Rulez,
