Length Of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice DVD Revealed
When Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was first announced, it was presumed to be the first big blockbuster of the 2016 movie season. As it turned out, it was the second after the release of Deadpool, and even though it pulled in more money than Deadpool, there was a lot more criticism of the DC film than was expected. The two main complains were one, it was too dark, and two, it was too long. As far as the first complaint goes, Zach Snyder has maintained that the tone was necessary for the story being told, and has promised that the Justice League films will be lighter and more fun. Regarding the second complaint? It sounds like the release of the movie on DVD and Bluray may bolster this gripe.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice clocked in at just over two and a half hours (151 minutes). The "Ultimate Edition" which will be released on DVD and Blu-ray will be just over three hours (181 minutes) and will be rated R. The reason for this change in rating is due to the fact that it's added more action and violence that was seen as "to intense" for the PG-13 rating. I believe that after seeing how well Deadpool did at the theaters with an R rating, the decision was made to put it all back in for the DVD and change the rating. Both versions will be made available, but the "Ultimate Edition" with also include cut characters that didn't make it into the theatrical version, like Jena Malone's character, who is rumored to be Barbara Gordon. It may even touch on the death of Robin more and explain how it happened. Heck, they might have even filmed Robin getting killed at the hands of the Joker, and that was the "added violence" that they're referring to. We'll just have to wait and see.
So what are you hoping to see in the "Ultimate Edition" of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Do you even want to see it? I think it's pretty smart as far as marketing goes. The movie's already made $854 million worldwide, and offering a different version will help the movie continue to generate money. Leave your thoughts and comments in the section down below. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice "Ultimate Edition" will be available July 16.
Duncan Jones To Bring "Mute" To The Silver Screen
Duncan Jones is quickly becoming a very popular director. His career as a director started off with a movie short called Whistle back in 2002. His first full length feature (which he also wrote) was Moon in 2009. The science fiction drama/thriller movie quickly became a cult classic. Next, in 2011, he gave us Source Code. Later this year he will debut Warcraft, based on the widely popular online game World of Warcraft. It this guy is on a role. So what's next Duncan Jones?
His next project will be a film called Mute. While little is known about the project, we can guess at what the setting will be like by taking a look at the illustrations from the Dark Horse graphic novel that Jones and Glenn Fabry both worked on. As you can see from the picture above (which came from the graphic novel) it looks to take place in a dystopian world that looks similar to the world of Blade Runner. That comparison isn't just speculation, either. Here's what Jones had to say about the world of Mute:
“It’s a thriller with a very weird tone. It goes very dark, then it also goes very darkly funny. It’s science-fiction urban, so it certainly owes some of its influence to Blade Runner.”
He also went on to say that he'd also been influenced by other movies, and regarded the film as both "The Casablanca of the future," and "Paul Schrader's Hardcore meets Robert Altman's MASH." The film should follow a mute man named Leo, who is searching for someone in twenty-first century Berlin. Screenrant, which is the site that I first read about this movie, thinks that this film is the perfect choice as Jones' next project because it will allow him to "potentially clear his head following the undoubted pressures of working on a major motion picture as large as Warcraft.
Let me know if this is something that you'd be interested in seeing. If it is, I'll continue to give you updates on it as soon as they come out.

SyFy Orders Krypton Pilot
DC's television shows have been a hit with audiences in a big way. You've got Arrow, Flash, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow on The CW, you've got Gotham on FOX, and Supergirl over at CBS. Now the SyFy channel is getting in on the action with Krypton, a television series that takes place on the planet Krypton and follows the House of El two generations before the Man of Steel was born. During this time period, the House of El has been "ostracized and shamed" of it's home planet, and the grandfather of Kal El must fight to redeem his family's honor, while trying to protect the planet from an unknown new enemy.
The show's executive producer and showrunner will be Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow)Colm McCarthy will direct the pilot episode, and David Goyer (who wrote the original script for the pilot) will be rewriting it along with Kindler. It was mentioned that Goyer is one of the hottest assets that WB and DC have at the moment. He's the writer behind Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which helped DC launch their own expanded universe for film, which will lead up to the much anticipated Justice League movies.
Anything that involves Superman on the smaller screen seems to gather an audience. Smallville, which aired on the WB/CW network, last ten seasons, and was one of the network's most viewed programs. CBS now has Supergirl, while it struggled through it's first half of the season, seems to have found it's voice and is pulling in larger audiences. It was recently renewed for a second season.
So what do you think? Is this something that you're looking forward to seeing? I have to admit, my favorite part of Man of Steel was when it was taking place on Krypton. Russell Crowe even had shown interest at one point in doing a Krypton movie that would've taken place before Man of Steel.
No word pn when this will air, but I'll let you all know as soon as I find out.

Here's A New Way To Look At The Star Wars Saga
It's long been assumed that the Star Wars movies have been a story about the Skywalker's. This is an easy assumption to make, considering that the prequels followed Anakin Skywalker from childhood to Vader, and the Original Trilogy covered Luke's journey to becoming a Jedi. But what if the true hero of the films isn't a Skywalker at all?
Chris Taylor, the author of How Star Wars Conquered the Universe, the real hero of the movies is R2D2. And this isn't just some crack-pot theory, this comes from the man himself...George Lucas. Lucas shared this idea with the animation director Rob Coleman, while they were on the set of Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. He called it "his ultimate framing device". Here's what Taylor writes on the idea R2D2 is the main character of the films:
"The entire story of Star Wars is actually being recounted to the keeper of the Journal of the Whills -- remember that? -- a hundred years after the events of Return of the Jedi by none other than R2-D2."
According to Taylor, R2D2 is featured in every movie, he hasn't had his memory wiped like C3PO has, he's determined to get to Obi-Wan in A New Hope because he remembers him from the prequels and knows his "true history". R2D2 also stops an elevator from crashing in Revenge of the Sith, he shuts down the garbage compactor in A New Hope, fixes the Millennium Falcon's hyperdrive in The Empire Strikes Back, and throws Luke his lightsaber to help him escape from Jabba's clutches. He's been the savior to almost every major character in the Star Wars movies.
So what do you think about Lucas' idea that R2D2 is the true hero of the films? Leave your thoughts in the comments section down below and tell me what you think.

Three Humans To Be Green Lanterns In Upcoming Green Lantern Corps. Movie
When Man of Steel made it's way into movie theaters, it was the first step in Warner Bros. plan on creating the DCEU, but it wasn't until the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that we got to see some of the players that would be featured in future films. The one that was noticeably absent was Green Lantern. It's been said that this was done on purpose, due to the poor showing that the Green Lantern movie had, both with audiences and critics. They didn't want to jump into casting a new Hal Jordan right away, hoping that if they waited, people would forget about the Ryan Reynolds film. That's one reason that they decided to wait until 2020 before giving us a new Green Lantern movie.
That didn't stop Warner Bros. from announcing that they were going to make a new Green Lantern movie, though. This time, it won't just feature Hal Jordan, but rather three Green Lanterns from Earth. Along with Hall Jordan, Latino Review is reporting that he'll be joined by John Stewert and Kyle Rayner. The casting call for Hal Jordan said that they are looking for an actor around the age of 45, but when it comes to John Stewert and Kyle Rayner they want actors that are much younger. This could be a way for WB to sort of "pass the torch" from the older Green Lantern to the younger ones. If this is the case, we may not see Hal Jordan in the DCEU for very long.
While Latino Review usually gets their information correct when reporting leaks about movies, this should still be taken with a grain of salt. It would be fun to see these three characters on the big screen all at the same time, but the one Green Lantern that I really want to see wasn't mentioned. That would be Guy Gardner. Hopefully, with the movie still years away from being made, they'll include him in on this one.
So what do you think? Has WB made the right decisions in choosing these Green Lanterns? Which Green Lanterns would you like to see in the movie? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.
Green Lantern Corps. comes out June 19, 2020.

Blade Runner 2 Has Found Its Female Lead
We're finally getting the Blade Runner sequel that we've been promised for so long...and a little sooner than was first revealed. Warner Bros. recently announced that they are moving the film's release date up a few months to October 6, 2017. Filming is set to begin later this year, although it seems that they are still in the process of adding people to the cast.
We already know that Harrison Ford will be returning to the sequel, reprising his role as Rick Deckard, but we've also learned that Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Dave Bautista have signed on for the film. Now we can add one more name to that list. Ana de Armas will be the movie's new female lead opposite Ford and Gosling. There's no word on what her role in the film will be, there were reports that there was going to be a female protagonist in the film, but that could've been four or five rewrites ago. The script has been kept under wraps, and nothing about the story has made it's way out onto spoiler sites yet, so your guess is as good as anyone elses.
Ana de Armas has been one busy actress. Most widely known for the movie Knock Knock where she starred opposite Keanu Reeves, she will also be appearing in the movie War Dogs with Jonah Hill and Miles Teller. That comes out August 19. Then, a week later, she'll be appearing in Hands of Stone with Robert de Niro and Egar Ramirez. That one comes out August 26. Starting this July, she'll begin filming Blade Runner 2. Looks like there's no slowing this one down!
Since filming does start filming this July, I'm sure we'll start getting reports on what the plot of the story will be. As soon as I hear anything, I'll make sure to let you know. The one thing I'm most curious about is if they make Deckard a replicant in this film (as we've been told that he was one in the original, although it was never addressed in the film) or if they are going to make him a human. If he is a replicant, how has he survived for so long? If you have any thoughts on this, feel free to let me know what they are in the comments section down below.

Possible Star Wars: Episode VIII Plot Revealed Online
So...a possible plot for Star Wars: Episode VIII has leaked online, and Comic Book Movies has posted the highlights of what they read. It doesn't look good. Just in case this is the real deal, let me just state the obvious...***POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!!!*** Okay, here we go:
The backstory to Luke and his Jedi being wiped out is that Snoke seduced Kylo and a few of the other students to the dark side and tasked them with killing everyone. Luke and a few others survived, including a young Rey who was subsequently dumped on Jakku by Luke.
Rey's mom died in the attack.
Rey is pissed at Luke because she guesses that he was her father and is angry at him for abandoning her. Luke turns to her and says "No, you are my father".
Yes, really.
Rey is the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker. Luke went to the first Jedi temple to better understand how the process works. He learned that the spirit of the chosen one is reincarnated by the Force every time the universe is thrown out of balance, which apparently happens on a semi-regular basis (Anakin was hardly the first time the chosen one reincarnated). This is why she's so crazy powerful with the Force (remember that Anakin blew up the Trade Federation donut ship by himself when he was like 8 years old).
Rey was the product of a virgin birth, but midichlorians aren't mentioned (Luke says "you are a child of the Force").
Luke is hesitant to train her because, according to Jedi history, the chosen one always struggles with staying on the light side of the Force because of the chaotic power running through them. He's afraid that she could become Vader 2.0. If he trains her to fight Kylo, and she turns dark, she would do way more damage to the galaxy than Kylo could ever dream of doing.
He ultimately trains her anyway and leaves everything up to the Force. He makes this decision in a scene where he confers with the ghosts of Obi-Wan and Yoda (Ewan MacGregor and Frank Oz come back).
Rey learns lightsaber skills, Force skills, and has a vision quest thing where she talks with Maz Kanata (unsure if it’s telepathy or just a dream) and Hayden Christenson. The latter tells her that she is him, but different, and there’s a quick scene where we see hundreds of other Force ghosts who are implied to be past chosen ones.
Sigh...It's so bad that I'm inclined to believe that George Lucas himself had a hand in writing this thing. It kind of clears up something from the first trailer for The Force Awakens. In one of the first trailers we got, Luke is speaking over a bunch of different scenes, and in it he says that the Force is strong in his family. He has it, his father has it, his sister has it, and then states that whoever he's talking to has it as well. When he spoke of his father, he used the present tense, not past as if he were dead. This could be the reason why. So I guess that Rey is like the Dalai Lama of the Force.
What do you think? Does this sound like an actual script/plot for Episode VIII? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below. Star Wars: Episode VIII comes out December 15, 2017.
Spike To Air Stephen King's "The Mist" Television Series
Back in 1980, Stephen King released a book of short stories called Dark Forces and one of the stories in this book was called The Mist. It actually had the feel of The Walking Dead, well before the comic book had been created. It covered a group of people stuck in a supermarket that fought to survive against trans-dimensional creatures, as opposed to zombies. I know that comparison is kind of a stretch, but that's what I thought after watching season one of The Walking Dead. It reminded me of this story. In 2007 a movie version of the story made it's way to theaters. It didn't do too terribly, but the movie version took some liberties and changed the ending from the original story to fit the film's plot. It gave it a definite ending, where as the story left the ending open and never gave it an actual conclusion. Now, we're going to get a television version of the story, and it's going to be airing on Spike.
The Spike network has announced that it has order 10 hour long episodes of the show and it will make it's debut next year. Here's what Sharon Levy, the executive vice president of original series at Spike add to say about in their announcement:
“From the brilliant mind of Stephen King and the incredible production team at TWC-Dimension TV, The Mist will take audiences on a thrilling ride through a small town grappling with a mysterious and shocking horror. Christian and the entire team at TWC-Dimension TV have crafted the framework for a compelling and distinctive series that will resonate with Spike’s expanding audience."
Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company (TWC), had this to add:
“We have been fortunate to produce and distribute two of Stephen King’s films, 1408 and The Mist, and are pleased to continue that relationship by making The Mist into a TV series. We’ve had an incredible experience developing the series with Christian, Sharon and her team and are eager to make this series a signature show for Spike.”
So what do you think about this announcement? Have you read the story that was in Dark Forces? Have you seen the movie? Are you interested in seeing what they do with this television series? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.

The Original Idea For Captain America 3 Never Dealt With "Civil War"
Fans are eagerly awaiting the premier of Captain America: Civil War, and with good reason. Not only will we get to see Avenger vs. Avenger, but we'll also get our first looks at Black Panther and Spider-Man, both new to the MCU. But had the Marvel always planned on this film being a Civil War adaptation? According to Kevin Feige, the answer to that question is no. During an interview with io9, Feige had this to say about the early concepts for Captain America 3:
“We developed Captain America 3 knowing we wanted to continue the Bucky story. Is Bucky going to get his mind back? What is Bucky struggling with, after the tag scene on Winter Soldier, and how does Steve’s desire to save Bucky bring him into conflict with something else, thinking about how do the sins of his past sort of affect him? And [writers] Chris [Markus] and Steve [McFeely] came up with a number of cool plots that could’ve worked, but none of them were feeling worthy of a follow up to Winter Soldier.”
Stephen McFeely joined the conversation and said:
“Do you put [Bucky] away for a while? Do you bring him back? And how do you not tread the same ground? It would be very easy to bring Winter Soldier back and fight him again. We plotted out a movie that wasn’t Civil War, but that had sort of the central spine that you still see, with Zemo and Bucky and a couple of the set pieces. And the further you probe into the effects of the Winter Soldier on the [Marvel Cinematic Universe], by not bringing in other people, we’re actually ignoring content.”
Feige said that he had wanted to do a Civil War movie, but he didn't know when it would happen, but as Captain America 3 kept developing, he felt that this was the best time to make it. Here's what he said:
“I thought, if we’re going to do Civil War, which I always wanted to do, this is the time to do it. All we have to get is this, this, this and this. ‘Okay, well the odds of that are very slim.’ ‘Okay, but if we could, what would it be?’ Chris and Steve started to chart out various versions of the movie. [Versions] without Iron Man, [versions] without Spider-Man—but we’re very lucky we got to make the whole one. The one we really wanted do.”
But a lot of different things had to fall into place before Civil War could happen:
“It wasn’t Civil War from the start. It was something that we were discussing and we had in the back of our minds, and we knew that if we were going to come back and do another Cap film, we wanted to do something radical and make another strong choice for the character. We were looking for storylines that would allow us to do that, and we just kept coming back to Civil War as the storyline that would give us the most juice – storytelling juice – and challenge Cap as a character more extremely than any other plot that we came up with in the exploratory phase.”
“We did put ourselves in the position, both with Robert and with Spider-Man, where we were hanging out there quite a bit. We committed on a storytelling level to both characters and we just, you know, willed those into existence.”
Luckily, Robert Downey Jr. signed on, and Marvel and Sony came to an agreement to allow Spider-Man to join the MCU. Everything ended up working out to make this incredible movie.
Captain America: Civil War opens May 6, 2016.

Is X-23 Going To Be In Wolverine 3?
It's been widely publicized that Wolverine 3 will be Hugh Jackman's last appearance as the popular X-Man, Wolverine. So how does 20th Century Fox plan on replacing him? If they try to recast the role, the public outcry would be immediate. The best thing to do is introduce a new X-Man that the fans can enjoy, give that character some of the same traits as Logan, and hope that the fans take to them. But who do you use? It seems that 20th Century Fox might have already made that decision...
A casting call has recently been sent out looking for "Caucasian, Hispanic, and Asian looking females varying from 4' - 4' 11" as stand-ins, as well as girls of the same ethnicity, but between 6 -13 at around the same heights". Although the identity of who these stand-ins are for has been kept quiet, Superherohype is reporting that they are for X-23. This will be the first time that X-23 has appeared in the X-men's cinematic universe.
X-23 (a.k.a. Laura Kinney) was created by Craig Kyle for the animated series X-Men: Evolution. Then, in 2004, she made her way over to the comic book side of Marvel, appearing in two six-issue miniseries and then went on to become a member of both the X-Men and X-Force groups. X-23 is a clone of Wolverine, created by the Weapon X program. As you have probably already guessed from her name, she was the 23rd attempt at cloning Wolverine, the previous 22 attempts ended in failure. Similar to Wolverine, she has a mutant healing ability and her skeleton has also been laced with adamantium. Like her "father" she has retractable claws on each hand. While Wolverine has three claws on each hand, X-23 only has two, but she has a third claw that comes out of each foot. After the "Death of Wolverine" comic book story ended, X-23 took up the mantle of her "father" and is the current comic book Wolverine.
If X-23 does figure into the Wolverine 3, it is unclear what her role will be. She never appeared in the comic book story "Old Man Logan," which the movie is supposed to be roughly based on. I say "roughly" because the comic book featured appearances by Red Skull, Hawkeye, Hulk, Doctor Doom, and the daughter of Peter Parker. It even mentioned Captain America's "Super Serum," all of which are properties that 20th Century Fox doesn't own. Whatever her role is going to be, I'm looking forward to seeing her in action.
Robert Downey Jr. Says Yes To Homecoming While Keaton Says No
When it was announced that Sony and Marvel had come to an agreement to allow Spider-Man to join the MCU and appear in Captain America: Civil War, it seemed that everything was going Marvel's way...but what was Sony going to get out of the deal outside of introducing yet another Spider-Man to the silver screen and getting some help from Marvel on their script for Spider-Man: Homecoming? Seems that joining the MCU has its benefits!
It's not been "officially" announced, but THR is reporting that Marvel, Sony, and Robert Downey Jr. have come to an agreement to let Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man) appear in the new Spider-Man movie. After all, Spider-Man is apart of the MCU now, so it would make sense that one of Marvel's properties would make an appearance on the Sony side of the screen. Considering Downey Jr. is probably the most popular Avenger out there right now, getting him to climb aboard for this film is huge.
Like I said, it hasn't been officially announced yet, so we don't know much about what kind of role Tony Stark will have in the film, or if we'll get to see him as Iron Man or not. It's widely suggested that Stark will play a mentoring role to young Peter Parker. We don't even know if this movie takes place before or after Civil War, but considering that everything that Marvel's done so far has been linear, my guess is that it takes place after Civil War. I am curious to find out how the two ended up meeting and how they forged a bond so quickly. I mean, Tony Stark doesn't just go out and make improvements to costumes for just anybody, right? The trailer made it look like Iron Man and "Underoos" were pretty tight. I think it'll work, I mean, after Peter's Uncle Ben died, he probably needed some sort of male role model to look up to and learn from. What better person than Tony Stark?
On the other side of the coin, Michael Keaton has declined a role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, It had been reported that Marvel and Sony had wanted Keaton to play the villain in the upcoming film, but now that doesn't seem to be happening. It wasn't said what villain they wanted him to play, but my guess is that after seeing him in Birdman, they probably wanted to have him play the Vulture, but that's just a guess.
So are you excited to hear that Tony Stark will appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming? What are your thoughts on the whole thing? Let me know what they are in the comments section down below.
Are We Going To Get A "Dark Phoenix" Movie Better Than X-Men: THe Last Stand?
I think it's safe to say that X-Men: The Last Stand was the worst movie in the franchise. i don't think that anyone can argue otherwise. Why it was the highest grossing X-Men film until Deadpool came along I have no idea. The Last Stand's take on the Dark Phoenix was not worthy of the incredible storyline that Marvel gave us back in 1980, and true X-Men fans left the movie disappointed. Luckily, after X-Men: First Class came out, it reignited peoples interest in the team of mutants and we are soon going to be able to see the ninth film in the movie franchise (not including Deadpool) when X-Men: Apocalypse later this year. But what can we expect after that movie comes out?
We already know that 20th Century Fox is planning on making a follow-up to Deadpool, one that will introduce us to Cable. After that, it's been rumored that they will use Cable to launch the X-Force movies, something that they've been wanting to do for a long time. But what about the X-Men? Can we expect to see any more movies from them? Jennifer Lawrence has already expressed her desire to keep playing Mystique, and Fox would be stupid to stop making movies with the Oscar winner. So where do they go after Apocalypse?
Heroic Hollywood is reporting that they've heard from their studio sources that the next X-Men movie will be based on the Dark Phoenix saga. How closely they stick to the actual comic book story remains to be seen, but they say that it's producers had said that they were at least interested in using elements from the story. Apocalypse would be a great jumping off point for this storyline since we will be reintroduced to Jean Grey (a younger version of her from the original X-Men movies) who will be played by Sophie Turner. We'll also be getting new versions of Storm and Cyclops in this movie, too.
If they do go this route, I don't expect it to follow the comic book storyline exactly. Even though the X-Men cinematic universe deals with mutant powers that are extraordinary, I don't think that Fox is ready to introduce aliens into it yet, and in the Dark Phoenix comic book story the Shi'Ar Empire played a big part in it. They may even use the Dark Phoenix from more recent X-Men comic book stories. Who knows?
Let me know what your thoughts are on this latest revelation in the comments section down below. X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27, 2016.

Deconstructing The Marvel Cinematic Universe
With the release of Captain America: Civil War, Marvel will begin its "Phase 3" of their MCU. But what can we expect after Avengers: Infinity War 1 & 2? From what we've been told from both Kevin Feige and the Russo brothers, the MCU won't look much like the one we're accustomed to. Feige recently sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly and when asked about the future of the MCU, he had this to say:
“I think you look at comics as a guide. I think there will be a finality to moments of Phase Three, as well as new beginnings that will mark a different, a very different, a distinctively different chapter in what will someday be a complete first saga made up of three phases.”
This really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. There have been a lot of rumors going around that the movies in Phase 3 are going to shake up the MCU in a major way. Whether it's the death of any one of our favorite heroes, or something of equal devastation, when Phase 4 hits the MCU will look completely different. It's not just Feige that is saying this, the Russo brothers have weighed in on what they expect to see from Phase 4:
“Things always get deconstructed, right? You build things up and people enjoy the experiences you’ve built up. But then you kind of reach an apex or you reach a climax, a moment where you go, ‘This structure is really going to start to be repetitious if we do this again, so what do we do now?’ So now, you deconstruct it. We’re in the deconstruction phase with Civil War and leading into Infinity War, which are the culmination films.”
Hearing this from Joe Russo is actually kind of refreshing. He seems to have his finger on the pulse of what seems to be working, but is also aware that you can only tell the same stories for so long before audiences begin to walk away. Deconstructing the MCU and building it back up with new characters and plot lines is a great way to keep things fresh and interesting. There will always be those out there that will complain that you can't have an Avengers without the original members, but remember that the comic book version of the team has always changed, bringing in new members to the group and having old ones leave. The other complaint that's sure to come is if Marvel announces a movie of a comic book character that people aren't familiar with. Remember how critics were wondering if Marvel had gone off the deep end when it announced Guardians of the Galaxy? A lot of critics began to wonder if this was the end of Marvel's dominance at the box office. Who wants to go see a talking tree and raccoon? Apparently, everybody. Guardians has become one of the fan's favorite movies set in the MCU. Just because you aren't familiar with a comic book character, it doesn't mean that it can't be a great movie.
What do you want to see from Phase 4? There haven't been any movies announced for this phase yet, so we still don't know where things will head after Infinity War. Do you have any favorite characters that you want to see on the big screen? Who are they? Let me know your thoughts on Phase 4 in the comments section down below.

Was The Force Awakens Too Much Like A New Hope?
If you are among the many people that felt that The Force Awakens was too similar to A New Hope, well...there's a reason for feeling this way. JJ Abrams was recently interviewed by Chris Rock at the Tribeca Film Festival and explained why the stories were a lot alike. Here's what he had to say:
“This movie [The Force Awakens] was a bridge and a kind of reminder; the audience needed to be reminded what Star Wars is, but it needed to be established with something familiar, with a sense of where we are going to new lands, which is very much what 8 and 9 do. The weird thing about that movie is that it had been so long since the last one. Obviously the prequels had existed in between and we wanted to, sort of, reclaim the story. So we very consciously — and I know it is derided for this — we very consciously tried to borrow familiar beats so the rest of the movie could hang on something that we knew was Star Wars.”
He went on to say:
“All the characters – the Stormtrooper who turns, Finn played by John Boyega, and Rey, the character that Daisy plays, the Scavenger, Kylo Ren, the son of Han and Leia, and Poe the pilot – all these were characters and sort of their roles in the story needed to exist in something that predates them.”
I have a problem with this explanation. The original Star Wars movie is one of the most watched movies in cinematic history. I find it hard to believe that there's anyone out there that needed to be reminded what the storyline for A New Hope was. Even younger viewers of The Force Awakens had to of seen it on DVD at some point. What parent out there wouldn't want to share this movie with their children? What seems a little more plausible is that after Michael Arndt left writing duties for the film and it fell to Abrams to complete, he followed a formula that he knew worked so he could complete the movie on schedule.
Now, I don't want to take anything away from the movie. I really enjoyed it, as did a lot of people judging by it's box office take. This is just my personal opinion on the matter. Am I right? Probably not, but it makes more sense to me than the explanation that Abrams gave. What do you think? Do you think Abrams explanation is sincere, or is it just an excuse given after hearing the complaints from fans that it was just an updated version of A New Hope? Does The Flash's Earth-1 Have A Kara?
After the HUGE television cross over event between the Flash and Supergirl, people wanted to know right away when we'd get to see these two together again on the small screen. Some want Barry to head back to National City again next year, while others are wondering if Kara has a doppelganger on Earth-1. Is it possible for Earth-1 to have a Kara? Here's what Andrew Kreisberg (executive producer for both shows) had to say:
"Any Kara that exists on Earth-1 would also have to be an alien. It just can't be Kara Danvers from Poughkeepsie."
That would seem to end the conversation of Kara appearing on Earth-1...or does it? Out of the three television series that take place in the DC universe, The Flash is the one show where something like an alien showing up wouldn't be out of the ordinary. With all of the metahumans running around, someone from outer space would fit right in. And to be fair, this idea isn't completely out of the question. When asked if an Earth-1 Kara would also have superpowers, Kreisberg had this to say:
"Sure, different costume, but sure."
Makes sense. There might not even be a Krypton in Earth-1's universe. It may be a different planet all together. If that's the case, there would be no "S" on her costume, since the House of El wouldn't exist. I wonder what her Earth-1 costume would look like?
It's been mentioned that this was the first of many crossovers that the producers are planning on doing with the two shows, whether it's Barry going back, Kara coming over, or meeting Kara's doppleganger, we'll get to see these two in action again in the near future.

What Cable Brings To Deadpool 2
In a very bold move, the writers for Deadpool inserted an after credits scene that announced that there would be a sequel, and that the sequel would also feature Cable. The reason this was a bold move was because Deadpool 2 hadn't "officially" been given the green light, but after it pulled in over $750 million worldwide and becoming the highest grossing X-Men film, a second Deadpool was all but inevitable. Both writers for the first film, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have already begun writing the script for the second movie, and promise not to go "big". They said a bigger budget and more special effects wouldn't be true to the character. He's not out to save the world, just himself. And now we know that Cable is going to be joining the Merc with a Mouth. So why choose Cable in the first place?
In an interview with Hitfix that Reese did while promoting the Bluray and DVD release of the movie, he had this to say on the subject:
"There's a lot of fun in that he's very serious and he does take on more serious weighty issues than Deadpool's used to taking on, so I think there's a juxtaposition there that can be fun. We had a lot of fun with Colossus in the first movie, just by virtue of him being a foil to Deadpool, being a goody two-shoes and a straight shooter and Deadpool being irreverent. And I think Cable offers us the opportunity to provide another really cool, different foil for Deadpool."
This makes a lot of sense. Colossus was the perfect choice to play foil to Deadpool, as Reese puts it. He played the exact opposite of a personality to Deadpool, who always saw the potential in Wade, even though Deadpool constantly acted selfishly. They were like the comic book version of the Odd Couple. Bringing in Cable would allow them to follow the same formula, while expanding the X-Men universe at the same time. It could even lead to Cable starring in an X-Men spin off movie like The New Mutants or X-Force. As far as possibly being given a bigger budget to work with, Reese had this to say:
"We don't want to make a $200 million epic superhero Deadpool movie. We want to make the $50 million Deadpool sequel. And I think people tapped into this being a character piece, you know? This was a movie about a broken character, a broken guy who's just trying to make his way in the world, and I think we're gonna continue that moving forward. I think (raising the stakes) goes against who the character is. You know, Deadpool wants to save himself, he doesn't want to save the world. You know, he's not lifting cities up or fighting alien invasions."
Reese continued:
"We're opening up to some fun choices because we aren't really constrained as much. We can go almost wherever we want. There's a massive body of material in the comics. We have our own ideas, Ryan has his ideas, and so much of the fun of writing Deadpool is the freedom, the freedom to break rules, the freedom to do crazy things, and I think the sequel probably provides even more opportunity than the first movie to do that."
The release date for the sequel hasn't been announced yet, but chances are it could arrive as early as December 2017 or early 2018. Deadpool comes out on Bluray and DVD May 10, 2016.

New Star Trek Series Set After Undiscovered Country
As you know (if you read this blog regularly), CBS is bringing Star Trek back to television in a little less than a year. CBS drew a lot of applause from Trek fans after their announcement, and then hit everybody with the news that the first episode would air on their broadcast network, but then the rest of the series would only be shown on CBS All-Access, so the only way to watch it is to sign up for their streaming service. That dulled the excitement a little bit, but not that much. It's also been reported that Bryan Fuller has been hired to as it's showrunner. Joining him as executive producers are Alex Kurtzman, Nicholas Meyer, and Rod Roddenberry. So now we know the men behind the scenes, but just what can we expect, and when will it take place?
Over at Birth.Movies.Death. they are reporting that the show will take place after Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country but before Star Trek: The Next Generation. It will take place in the Original Series continuity, and not be apart of the Star Trek cinematic universe that was rebooted by JJ Abrams and changed the history of the show. BMD is also reporting that the show will not be taking place on the U.S.S. Enterprise, rather a different ship that is part of the Federation. One last thing that they reported as a rumor, because they could "second source" the story at the time that they were writing the article, is that although the series would take place after the Khitomer Conference which brought an end to the war between the Klingons and the Federation, Fuller has a plan in the works on how to still feature villainous Klingons in the series, something (which they point out) we haven't seen in decades.
Here's something that they posted in the article that wasn't part of it's original story, which was written by Devin Faraci:
"UPDATE! A trusted source has chimed in and told me that it looks like the show will be a seasonal anthology, which means the first season will be set post-Undiscovered Country. After that the entire Star Trek universe is potentially open. So those of you hoping for a post-Dominion War show... don't give up hope. That could come some day."
So what do you think? Does this information make you excited to see the new series, or are you a little leery on what to expect? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

Will The Watchtower Play A Part In The Justice League Movies?
There was an interesting thing that happened on Jason Momoa's Instagram account. He uploaded a video of the workout that he's been doing to prepare for the upcoming Aquaman movie, and wrote "Watchtower" in the caption. Now this doesn't really mean anything on the face of it, but why write "Watchtower" in the caption? Is he alluding to something that may be coming to the DCEU, or is that what he's calling the gym that he's doing his workouts in?
The Watchtower was first introduced in 1997, and has either been featured as a space station or a base located on the Moon. It has made appearances in different animated features, as well as the Justice League Unlimited animated series. Every time it's been shown, it's been used as the Justice League's base of operations. Now here's the question...but first, ***SPOILERS AHEAD!!!*** for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!
At the end of the movie, after Superman "dies" fighting Doomsday (let's face it, he's not going to stay dead!) Batman tells Wonder Woman that he's going to round up all of the other metahumans that he saw in Lex Luthor's secret files to help protect the Earth in Superman absence. It would make sense for them to have a base of operations so they can coordinate operations. The problem is...Batman dosen't know if any of the metahumans will be willing to join forces. We know that they'll eventually become a team, but he can't be so sure. At least, not sure enough to justify building a huge base in space or on the Moon. Why bother with it if they refuse to join? He could just as easily work out of the Batcave if it ended up just being himself and Wonder Woman. Plus, how would he build it without alerting the military or world governments? The only way that he'd be able to do it is with alien technology that he doesn't have yet.
So there are two options if they are planning on bringing in the Watchtower. First, they refit an alien ship that they get at some point in a future DCEU movie, and turn it into the Watchtower. The second way they could explain the existence of the Watchtower is that during/after the Justice League movies, Batman is able to copy the technology of the Boom Tubes that Darkseid uses and using the money from Wayne Enterprises, is able to build the Watchtower using the Boom Tubes, eliminating the need for rockets and alerting the military or other world governments. This, of course, can only happen if they end up using Darkseid as the big baddie in the Justice League films, and not Brainiac.
So what do you think? Do you think that we'll get to see the Watchtower at some point in the DCEU? If so, when do you think we'll first get to see it? Leave me your thoughts in the comments section below.

This Doesn't Sound Good For Indiana Jones 5...
When Disney announced that they were going forward with a fifth Indiana Jones movie, there was a lot of excitement about the prospect of a new (and hopefully better) film featuring our favorite archaeologist. Now that Disney owned the rights to the character, and also with the financial success they had with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, many hoped that we would get something worth going to see...unlike Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. However, a recent interview that was done with Frank Marshall (the franchise producer) kind of threw water all over our hopes of that happening.
In the interview, Marshall said that the fifth installment would be a "continuation of the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull story." As sad as it was to hear this, it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The writer of the screenplay for the Crystal Skull movie, David Koepp, was hired to write the next chapter of the Indy storyline. In Koepp's defense, he was brought on board for that movie to "clean it up". The story had already been decided on, he just came in to put the finishing touches on it. He didn't actually come up with the story himself. In my opinion, though, that's of little reassurance.
Now, when they say "continuation," I don't believe that the movie will pick up immediately after the wedding between Doctor Jones and Marion. None of the other movies really picked up right after the previous one, although aspects of the previous films were often mentioned. I think this would be a good way to get rid of Mutt. The character never seemed to fit into the movie, and seemed more cardboard than anything else. Just say he's gone off to boarding school or something and take him out of the movie completely. It hasn't been said if Karen Allen has been asked to come back as Marion Ravenwood (a.k.a. Mrs. Henry Jones, Jr.) so it's possible that Indy's home life won't be mentioned at all, and we'll just get a good adventure movie.
Not a lot is known about what the story will deal with. We know there won't be any Nazi's going up against Indy, and we don't know if the Russians will play apart in this one. In my opinion, they were a poor substitute for the Nazi antagonists, it just didn't feel the same. What we do know is that Harrison Ford is coming back, Steven Spielberg will be directing it again, and that it is set for release July 19, 2019. Outside of that, your guess is as good as mine as to what we can expect.
What are your thoughts on this little bit of news? Does this make you worried, or are you ambivalent to what you hear and will start making an opinion on things after you see the trailer for the film? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Some Star Trek Fans Are Going To Be In For A Treat This Summer!
Star Trek Beyond is getting ready to boldly go where only a few have gone before...
It was recently revealed that JJ Abram's Bad Robot production company is remastering some of the scenes in Star Trek Beyond so it will be compatible with and work on Barco's Escape projection system. Barco's Escape technology works by allowing the audience to get a panoramic view of what's happening in the movie by putting up three screens to show the movie on. The three screens are set up with one directly in front of you, and the other two are on either side of you, giving you a wrap around view, so to speak. The remastering of the movie won't allow the entire film to be able to use all three screens, but at least 20 minutes or more of the film will be able to take advantage of this format. Here's what Ben Rosenblatt, the head of visual effects over at Bad Robot, had to say about how they are going to incorporate this into Star Trek Beyond:
"When you're on the bridge of the Enterprise, you might see additional coverage of the bridge. Or you might see the Enterprise coming across the screen — and maybe you'll see more and the attacking forces. There are new ships and antagonists that are well suited to the expanded image."

Two Marvel Characters Already Confirmed For Infinity Wars
This might not be that big of a piece of information that warrants an entire post about it, but I feel that it does. The reason I say this is because we really don't know who is going to make it out of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War movie alive. Rumors have it that three people will die in the movie, but who they are we don't know yet. We assume that in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movies that we'll get to see every single Marvel character that's been introduced to us so far, but again, that's just an assumption. So when Comicbook.com interviewed the Russo brothers about who they're most excited to get to work with for Infinity War, both answered with characters that aren't going to be in the Captain America movie. Here's a portion of the article written by Brandon Davis for Comicbook.com:
"The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that's happened before in the MCU so you don't want to get into spoilers but I'm a big fan of what James Gunn has done," Anthony Russo told Comicbook.com. "[Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you'd be very excited," he said, teasing Pratt and Star-Lord's presence in Infinity War.
Joe Russo, on the other hand, is excited to bring the Norse God into the mix and, especially because he knows something about Thor: Ragnarok that we don't.
"I'm excited to work with Thor," Joe Russo says. "They're doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he's gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he's gonna have a real emotional motivation after that."
Davis goes on to say that in case there is any debate about their comments, both Thor and Star Lord have been confirmed as appearing in Infinity War. I think that the most interesting thing about this news is trying to figure out how Star Lord makes his way to Earth...or is everybody else going to go into outer space? We will just have to wait a few years in order to find out.
Avengers: Infinity Wars I comes out May4, 2018, and Avengers: Infinity Wars II comes out May 3, 2019. Captain America: Civil War comes out in a few weeks, May 6, 2016.

Rogue One Trailer Comes Out Today
We are already into the four month of 2016, which means that there is only eight months to go before we get a new Star Wars movie debuting. This one will be the first one that takes place outside of the continuing "Episode" movies. While it still takes place in the same galaxy far, far away, it's jumping back to a point in time that's somewhere in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It's called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and it follows a group of Rebellion fighters tasked with stealing the plans for the Empire's new super weapon...the Death Star.
I know pretty much everybody that's reading this knows all of this already, but did you know that the first teaser trailer for this movie is going to be released later today? This is a pretty big deal for Disney since they have a lot riding on this film. After Disney purchased Lucasfilm for a little over $4 billion they were quick to announce that they'd be releasing Episode VII. It had to be great and popular in order for them to start making their money back. Luckily for Disney, it was hugely popular with audiences who (in my opinion) were just happy to see a movie that gave us the original characters again...and wasn't a prequel.
The problem that they had, though, was that each new chapter would be released every two years. They needed to come up with a plan that would allow them to have a new Star Wars come out every year, in order to keep interest in the franchise going. So they decided to introduce the Star Wars Anthology movies. These would be films that take place in the same universe, but outside of the ongoing saga films. These films would also allow them to try different things, without jeopardizing the Episode movies. For instance, Rogue One will be the first Star Wars movie that won't feature a John Williams score. It also won't feature any Jedi. It is also expected to be much darker than any of the Episode movies, and is being labeled as a heist film.
Disney has already released a teaser for the teaser trailer (yes, we've now come to that point when it comes to marketing. I know, sad) with the full teaser trailer coming out later this afternoon. As you can see from the above picture, there are going to be new Stormtroopers (the rumored name for them are "Death Troopers," part of an elite group of Stormtroopers) as well as some of the classic spacecrafts like the AT-AT for the Imperials and the Snow Speeder for the Rebels. However, the movie will primarily be following the Rebels X-Wing squadron Rogue Group. After you get a chance to see the trailer, let me know your thoughts on it in the comments section below.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes out December 16, 2016.

Real Life Holochess Game From Star Wars Being Developed
Any Star Wars fan that's worth their weight know the name Phil Tippett. If you're not familiar with the guy, know that he's a two-time Academy Award winner for visual effects. He's worked on Jurassic Park and the Star Wars movies. His most memorable visual effect from A New Hope was the holochess board that Chewbacca and C3PO played together on. Now, Tippett is trying to create an actual holochess board for people to play themselves. Check out the video down below:
Pretty cool, huh? From what it looks like, you have to wear some sort of eye wear that allows you to see the board on any flat surface that you want to play on. Using different playing cards allows you pick and choose the different monsters that you want to play with.
When the game will be available hasn't been released, and something this ambitious will probably keep it off the shelves for a couple more years at least. I'll let you know more as information is released. So what do you think? Would this be something that you'd be interested at playing? Let me know your thoughts about this in the comments section down below.

Is Green Lantern Coming To The CW?
It was recently announced that Patrick J. Adams (one of the stars on Suits, which is about to have its final season) would be appearing in the season finale of Legends of Tomorrow. The CW hasn't released what Adams role is going to be, but there is a lot of speculation out there that he might be playing the Green Lantern...just not the one that most of you are familiar with.
The CW has been teasing that Hal Jordan is a part of their "Arrow-verse" since the first season of Arrow. Ferris Airlines, billboards, the mention of an ace test pilot, all of these things have either appeared or has been mentioned. It's led a lot of people to believe that at some point Hal Jordan himself will show up. The problem with this is that Warner Bros. won't let the writers and executive producers for the show actually use him. They want to keep Jordan on the big screen and off the television shows. But that's Hal Jordan...
The rumor that's going around is that Adams is going to be playing Alan Scott in the season finale of Legends of Tomorrow. Scott was the Green Lantern during the Golden Age of comic books. Created in 1940 by Martin Nodell and Bill Finger, Scott became the Green Lantern after encountering a mystical meteor. He could fly, time travel, create things out of thin air, things like that. He was not part of the Green Lantern Corps. Hal Jordan is, but he did have his share of scrapes with evil villains. One of them? Vandal Savage. See how this all ties together with Legends?
There's another rumor out there that says that the CW is considering a Green Lantern television show featuring Adams as Alan Scott, and with the show Suits coming to an end, that would free Adams up for a new project. The question now is, during what time period would the show take place? Scott's Green Lantern lived through the 40's, and with the show Legends of Tomorrow dealing with time travel, are they going to go back to the 40's and encounter Scott there? Or are they going to bring him into the current time period and make him more modern?
This is all just speculation, since nothing has been announced as far as what role Adams is going to have on the season finale, but it's fun to think about. What are your thoughts on the whole thing? Do you want to see a Green Lantern television show? Would you watch it if it featured Scott instead of Jordan? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Guardians of the Galaxy? Meet The Avengers.
Well...maybe not. I don't know. Heck, I don't even think James Gunn knows at this point, but considering the epic scale that this two-parter is going to be, I wouldn't be surprised if this happens. And maybe Gunn isn't going to be surprised, either. Gunn likes to take to social media to interact with fans of the movie Guardians of the Galaxy. In fact, the above picture was from a scene that was cut that he shared on Facebook, which he titled, "Groot's Last Supper." If you need me to explain why it's called this, you need to go visit an art museum or do a little reading. Gunn cut the scene because he said that it was slow, and didn't work well with the movie as a whole.
While fielding questions on Facebook, one fan asked him why none of the characters from Guardians of the Galaxy were going to appear in Captain America: Civil War. I know. A pretty stupid question, but Gunn answered it without any sarcasm or mockery. His simple answer was, "Because they are currently in a different galaxy." Not much to learn from that answer, right? Or is there?
This is probably grasping at straws a little bit, but let's look at his answer. He said that they are "currently" in a different galaxy. Does that mean that at some point they will travel back to Terra (a.k.a. Earth) and join the rest of the Avengers? It would make sense, with the Avengers: Infinity Wars coming out in a couple of years. Disney and Marvel have promised the biggest Avengers movie ever with it's release, and have hinted at bringing all of their movie properties together for one...okay, "two" action packed movies. One would assume that this would include the characters from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Gunn was also recently asked if he would be returning for a third Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but kind of shrugged off the question. He said that he was only focusing on giving us the best possible sequel ever, and wasn't really thinking beyond this point. He did say that he wasn't sure if he wanted to do a third film or decide to do something else, but whatever he decides to do, I'm sure that it will be amazing.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes out May5, 2017.

Suicide Squad Trailer Resonates With Fans
Warner Bros. and DC's Suicide Squad is going to be a turning point for the DCEU, whether it's intentional or not. What do I mean? Well, it's going to be a more upbeat movie than the Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. And they're not doing this because of the "dark tone" from these two movies, but because of the amazing response that the trailer for Suicide Squad got that had Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody playing in the background. It was peppered with jokes from the movie, and fans loved it. The problem was that they put every joke from the movie into that trailer. So how do you fix that? You go back for reshoots.
According to David Faraci from birthmoviesdeath.com, an unnamed source reported to him that after the release of the trailer and the excitement that it produced with people, Warner Bros. requested reshoots for the film that would alter the tone of the film and giving the fans what Warner Bros. feels they want from the movie. Reshoots for a film are not uncommon, they happen all of the time. Sometimes that spells early trouble for the film (Fantastic Four reboot) but in this case it's good news. Injecting more humor into the film, and at the same time the DCEU, will help take some of the criticism off of them from people who don't like the dark and brooding tones of their DCEU films. I know that they want to separate themselves from Marvel's movies, but going dark doesn't separate you from them. It's your characters and storytelling that should separate you from the other superhero films. Give us a good story and we will show up. But you still have to be true to the character when telling that story.
Even though the name Suicide Squad doesn't really sound like a light-hearted title (I mean, it's got "suicide" in the title, right?), the comics and even the animated feature that WB Animation put out always had a hint of comedy in them. Because that's who the characters are. They joked and killed and did their job in the hopes that they wouldn't die, and maybe even escape or get released earlier than they would have before. They're a fun group to follow, as messed up as they are. I think that Warner Bros. has finally figured that out.
What were your reactions to the trailer? Are you looking forward to seeing this? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, and if there's anything that you are curious about or want to know more about, let me know and I'll look into it for you. Either leave the questions down below, or you can contact me at comconocave@gmail.com.
