Is Miles Morales About To Make His MCU Debut?
When I first read the article that was dealing with this topic, I had to laugh to myself because earlier this week I had read an article that stated that Marvel didn't want to deal with any of the Spider-Man spin-offs yet. They wanted to focus on Peter Parker and not get too far ahead of themselves. In fact, Kevin Feige was quoted as saying the following:
"Well, there could be [spin-offs]. But the truth is, our job right now is that single Spider-Man movie based in the MCU. And that’s where all our focus is."
Now you understand why I had to laugh when I read an article titled, "Miles Morales Could Also Possibly Appear In Marvel's Spider-Man Reboot." Kind of went against everything that the head of Marvel had just said. So where did this rumor come from? None other than the Spider-Man director himself, Jon Watts!
Okay, let me clarify...he didn't come right out and scream it from the roof tops! He was asked a question in an interview whether there had been any serious discussions about Miles Morales appearing in the next Spider-Man movie. Here was his answer:
"I can't talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much," he says. "We're still writing the story...we haven't finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows."
Okay, that wasn't a strong confirmation that he will, but it also wasn't a denial! My guess is that if he does show up in the movie, he'll just be a "person in the background" type of character, not another web-slinger. Still, if he does make an appearance in the film, however small it may be, what does that say about the direction that they are wanting to take these new Spider-Man films? Would his appearance mean that they'll use him in the future as another, or the next Spider-Man? It could make things a lot more interesting if they do...
