Cinelinx.com is a site that I'm not too familiar with, but it was linked to an article that I was reading and have to say, I enjoyed their information! They were quoting information that was being passed along by Making Star Wars, and it was really quite interesting!
When I first heard that Star Wars was coming out with a television program, I was naive to believe that it was going to be a live action program. Instead, I was given Star Wars: The Clone Wars and then Star Wars: Rebels. Now, I'm not complaining about these shows, they are both quite good, but when you expect one thing and get another, it's a little disappointing. But now...
Cinelinx.com is reporting that Making Star Wars has confirmed that Disney is looking to make a Star Wars program to air on ABC, much like Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It would take place in the same universe as the movies, but the storyline would be an off shoot of what takes place on the silver screen.
This program won't be appearing anytime soon, like two or three years from now. Why? They are waiting until the "already planned" movies are well into production. This is because they are planning on using the same sets at Pinewood Studios to save money, and also to allow the show to flow concurrently with the movies. Once they figure out how long each movie will take to film, they'll be able to schedule the television show's shoots around the movie filming. Make sense?
Now, this is all still speculation, but the fact that rumors of a "live action" Star Wars television show have resurfaced means that there is something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. The rumors are saying that this project is green lit, and that the series is going to focus on a character from one of the books. Could this be why the development is taking so long? Are they trying to develop someone appropriate for the series? Don't know, but am very intrigued!
That's it on this end. Sorry, no plot points or time lines, but the fact that they are looking to do this is pretty exciting. What are your thoughts? Looking forward to it, or leave it to the movie to entertain us? Leave your comments in the section below, or you can reach me at comconocave@gmail.com!
