Meet The New Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, And Ron Weasley
I hope this makes it over here from across the pond!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a new story from the creative minds of it's creator, J.K. Rowling, and Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. You won't be able to see it in a movie theater, though. This one is set to hit the stage! But who's going to play our favorite characters? Here's what Baz Bamigboye of The Daily Mail had to say on that subject:
"Harry will be played by 36-year-old Jamie Parker, an original member of Alan Bennett's History Boys cast at the National Theatre, While Paul Thornley has been cast as Ron Weasley. Ron, his hair receding now, is married to Hermione - a part won by Noma Dumezweni, 45, who was born in Swaziland to South African parents fleeing apartheid. She moved with her mother and sister to Suffolk when she was seven."
Because this undertaking is huge one, the play is being broke up into two separate shows. Viewers will have the option of watching both parts "at a matinee and evening performance on the same day," or "on two consecutive evenings each week." Here's a quick description of what the play will be about:
"It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with the past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens in late May at London's West End.
