Meet Gemma Atkinson. Unless you live across the pond, you probably don't know who she is, but if the rumors are to be believed, she'll soon join the American airwaves as Supergirl.
This may be a bit premature to report on, seeing as she's also in the running for a role in the British soap opera Emmerdale, but things seem to be pointing to her as the new Kara Zor-El. If you don't know who Kara is, she's the kryptonian cousin of the Man Of Steel, who escaped their home planet's destruction only to have her spaceship get lost in space. Arriving to earth years after Kal-El, she appears to be his younger cousin, even though she's technically his older cousin.
Atkinson only recently auditioned for the role, but seems to be the front runner. The fact that she is also a huge comic book fan doesn't hurt her chances, either!
Other characters that they are casting for are Cat Grant, Jimmy Olsen, Winslow Schott, and Hank Henshaw. The CBS shows executive producer is Greg Berlanti, who also is also the executive producer for The Flash and Arrow. He'll also be writing the show alongside Ali Adler, who writes for No Ordinary Family.
So what do you think? Do you think Gemma Atkinson has what it takes to be the next Supergirl? She certainly looks the part!
