Did Deadpool Accidently Link Itself To The MCU?

There are a lot of fans out there that have been hoping that Marvel and 20th Century fox could come to some sort of agreement to include the X-Men into the MCU.  While this doesn't seem likely right now, there has been a link established connecting the MCU to the Deadpool movie, although it's an accidental one.  Check this out...

There's a scene in that was cut from Deadpool that showed Ajax (played by Ed Skrein) being brought to shore after leaving "The Raft Prison."  Why this scene was cut, I have 

no idea, but it ties into the movie Captain America: Civil War.  In that movie, after Captain America and Bucky Barnes escape to Siberia at the end of the fight at Leipzig/Halle Airport, the rest of Team Cap, which included Scarlett Witch, Falcon, Hawkeye, and Ant-Man, get captured and sent to an underwater prison at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean called "The Raft."  Duh! Duh! Duh! (That was supposed to be a suspenseful sound effect.)

Now you might be thinking that the creators of Deadpool cut the scene at the request of Marvel, but that doesn't seem very likely.  Deadpool hit theaters nearly four months earlier than Captain America: Civil War, and it's highly unlikely that either production company had been sharing information on their competing films prior to either of them being released.  It's just a happy coincidence for Marvel that the scene had been cut from Deadpool and that it never made it into the final cut.

So whether or not Marvel and 20th Century Fox ever come to an agreement to share the rights to their properties which would allow the rest of the Marvel characters join the MCU, fans will have to make due with this little connection.  I know it's not much, but it's still pretty cool!

Set Photos From Spider-Man: Homecoming Show First Look At Shocker

 

 I kind of getting a little worried about the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie.  Not because I don't think that Tom Holland does a very good job at playing Peter Parker, in fact was brilliant as the web slinger in Captain America: Civil War.  No, I'm getting a little worried about the film because I'm wondering if Sony hasn't learned enough from their past mistakes.  I understand that Marvel is putting their two cents in when it comes to this movie, but Sony ultimately has the final say with the film, so yeah, I think I have good reason to feel this way.


When Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters next year, it will be the first solo film for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man that takes place in the MCU.  We have learned a few things about the film over the summer, like that Tony Stark will be appearing in it (and maybe Iron Man, not sure on that one yet), we know that Michael Keaton has signed on to play the Vulture (Happy belated Birthday, by the way, Mike!), who creates his suit with the help of the Tinkerer, who is another villain from Marvel comics.  Now, set photos have leaked out showing what looks to be Shocker, one of Spider-Man's rogues.  So now we know that there will be three different villains that will be appearing in the new Spider-Man movie.  Hmmm...why am I nervous about this?


Oh yeah!  They had three villains fighting Spidey in Spider-Man 3 which started Tobey Maguire back in 2007, arguably the worst movie from that particular trilogy.  They also had three villains in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which starred Andrew Garfield back in 2014, and was (again, arguably) the worst Spider-Man movie of all time.  Way too many villains to give proper amount of time to building, making each of these films seem muddled and rushed.  They didn't make sense to a lot of viewers, and in the end, it hurt the franchise, which is why we are getting are third Spider-Man series in 15 years.  I'm just glad that they screwed The Amazing Spider-Man 2 up so bad or else we would have been tortured with a third one in that series.  The things that they wanted to do in that movie were horrible on paper, and would've been even worse on film.


I'm probably getting worked up over nothing, Marvel is helping with this film, and I'm sure that they won't let a sub-par movie end up being released.  The Russo brothers did a great job when dealing with all of the superheroes in Captain America: Civil War, giving each of the characters their own screen time and development, maybe I should give director Jon Watts a little faith in what he's doing as well.  The pictures of Shocker are pretty cool, right?  I don't know if there's been an official word on who's playing him, but IMDB has him listed as Bokeem Woodbine.  That, and it was recently announced that Jon Favreau would also be appearing in the film.  Nothing like getting the guy that started the whole MCU a part in the picture!

This New Marvel Television Show Is Going To Be HORRIBLE!!!

While Marvel may rule the roost when it comes to movies, their television shows seem to be lacking quite a bit.  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems like they have to reinvent themselves every season, and while Daredevil seems to be doing pretty good over at Netflix, the rest of the Marvel shows haven't quite found their audience.  Disagree with me if you want, but when Fuller House beats out all of the Marvel properties on Netflix in total viewers, there's a serious problem!  Now, TV Line is reporting that Marvel TV and ABC Studios are wanting to develop a half-hour comedy series that follows the "New Warriors," a teenage superhero team, and it's lead would be Doreen Green, also known as "Squirrel Girl."  While it's being developed, the two companies are trying to decide if they should have it run on ABC, or if they should consider shopping it around to other cable networks or streaming services.  This is Marvel TV's worst idea so far.


While the MCU movies contain humor and tend to be mostly light-hearted films...I mean, when the world isn't about to end or when they're fighting amongst one another, a half-hour comedy that follows superheroes, teenagers or not, cheapens the entire MCU.  It'd be like if you were being robbed and call 911, but when the police come, it's the keystone cops.  You can have a show that's witty and funny, but you can't have a comedy show and expect the same fans that enjoy the movies to flock over to watch it.  And guys?  Just because you put "Marvel" on something. doesn't mean that it's going to be good.


In case you didn't know, there's been an internal war going on over at Marvel.  Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has recently distanced himself from Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb.  Conflicts between the two have been going on for a while now, and Feige has had enough.  Because of this rift, Loeb can basically do whatever he wants on the TV side of Marvel, but he has no input what-so-ever on the movie side.  Hoping to see Coulson show up in the next Avengers film?  Don't count on it.  While both their movies and television shows take place in the MCU, these two are definitely separate.  While one or both might mention something that's happened with others storyline, don't expect any crossovers any time soon.  That is, unless Feige and Loeb can start getting along.  And just for the record?  Feige is in the right, and Loeb is the one being difficult.


Back to this New Warriors idea.  It's bad.  Why didn't they go the movie route for Squirrel Girl when Anna Kendrick said that she wanted to star in it if it ever became a movie?  Heck, even the Russo brothers are behind her on this and think that it's a great idea!  But, alas, if this show does end up getting made, it will go out the same way Agent Carter did, as a disappointing attempt with a character that fans used to like.  Thanks, Marvel TV.

Star Wars: Episode VIII Plot Details Have Begun Leaking Out

Now before I get started, let me make it clear that these are all rumors, okay?  Remember how many of these things turned out wrong before The Force Awakens came out?  So take these all with a grain of salt, but in case they do turn out to be true...***POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!***  Still with me?  Then let's move forward!

Believe it or not, but all of the principle photography for the movie has already been completed, and John Williams is already working on putting his score to each of the scenes for the film...and this movie isn't supposed to be released until December 15, 2017!  It sounds like it's almost complete and we still have over a year before it's release!  Because it's near completion, we may be getting more and more information about the film through leaks from "people close to the project."  We've already seen this happen.  Earlier this year, someone post a photo that is said to be dialogue from the film and gave a little backstory to what had happened to Luke Skywalker.  Here's the photo:

Here's a summery of what it said, in case it's too small for you to read:

"In the scene Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Council became “arrogant” and that they were hiding a “secret,” which led to their demise. The old Jedi master takes Rey’s hand and shows her a glimpse into the past. They see two children playing near a tree on an alien planet. The boy noticed that he had greater strength and intuition when he was closer to this tree. The girl noticed that the tree also made her brother increasingly angry. One day an argument breaks out between the children, and the boy kills the girl. The boy touches the tree and is “transformed,”. He kills his parents and leaves the planet. Meanwhile the girl is revealed to be alive, transformed by the tree as well, using her power to start the first Jedi Order.

The girl explains how The Force can be used for both good and evil. She tells her followers that one day she would return as either a boy or a girl, and that they should train this child. Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Order had been searching for The One (reincarnation of the original founder of the Jedi) for a millennia. When they found Anakin Skywalker and thought that he would bring balance to The Force, the Jedi were “deceived” and the Clone Wars were the result. The scene also shows Rey’s parents, and Luke is not the father. Luke tells her how she was identified as strong with The Force, and how she was supposed to begin her training, but never reached her destination for an unknown reason. In the scene Luke gives Rey a choice, and she has till sunset to make it."


I talked about this a while ago, but now there's some new information that has come out.  From what I've been hearing there are going to a lot more Force visions in this film, and not just the one that's mentioned up above.  Kylo Ren's brothers, The Knights of Ren, will be playing a much larger role in Episode VIII, and we'll be treated to a scene that shows them killing all of the padawans that are training at the Jedi Temple, Okay, "treated" isn't the word that should be used, but you get the idea.  It evokes the memory of Anakin Skywalker doing the same thing to the Sandpeople in Attack of the Clones.  If the padawans are armed, this should make for an epic lightsaber battle!

Fans Want More Thor And Darryl

In case you weren't aware of it, there were two prominent Avengers that were absent in Captain America: Civil War, the Hulk and Thor.  Thanks to a little "documentary" that was released, we now know what the two were doing while all of the other Avengers were out fighting one another.  Check out the video down below:

Now Here's A Remake That I'm Looking Forward To!

Normally when I hear the words "movie remake," it makes me cringe.  So many great classic movies have been destroyed by movie studios wanting to cash in on an already done ideas by giving us "remakes" of these films, and them trying to tell us that these are better than the originals because they are contemporary.  And if it's not a remake, then it's a sequel that shouldn't be made, like this summer's Ghostbusters.  However, there are exceptions to the rule, look at Jurassic World.  That movie was not only fun to watch, but it was also a box office hit.  So maybe I should keep an open mind after learning that there's going to be a Jumanji remake...


I first found out that they were going to do a remake of Jumanji a couple of months ago, which at first surprised me, because I thought they already did that when they released Zathura: A Space Adventure, right?  Anyway, I started looking into the movie and found a pretty interesting and impressive cast.  There was Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Nick Jonas.  Okay, I wasn't really that impressed when I heard that Nick Jonas was going to be in it, but the rest of the cast I was.  Look, I just haven't seen anything that Jonas has done, give me a break.  He might be great in the movie.  So I've been quietly keeping up with any new information that has come out regarding the film.


Earlier this week, it was announced that Karen Gillan is going to join the cast.  To me?  This is great news.  She was always my favorite companion on Doctor Who and she did a great job in Guardians of the Galaxy.  She's quickly becoming a rising star, and I look forward to anything that she stars in.  Unfortunately, we don't know who her character is going to be, or what type of character she'll be playing.  We actually don't know any of the actors roles in the movie.  They've been keeping everything closely under wraps.

What We Know About Star Trek Discovery So Far...

This month we get to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek television series.  The celebration kicked off earlier this year with the premier of Star Trek Beyond and was capped off with the announcement of a new Star Trek television series called Star Trek: Discovery.  Not a lot is known about the new series, but a few details have begun to leak out, so let's go over what we've heard.


We know that the showrunner for the new series is Bryan Fuller, and that he's re-teaming with Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts (he worked with them on Wonderfalls, a television show from 2004) and has made them both co-showrunners.  We also learned from an interview that Fuller gave that the show is going to follow a female human lead who Is referred to as "Number One," and from what it sounds like, she will be a lieutenant commander.  The term was popularized during Star Trek: The Next Generation, when Captain Picard used to address Commander Riker, but was actually first used in the pilot episode for the original series when Captain Pike referred to his unnamed first officer (who, incidentally, was played by Gene Roddenberry's wife).  It's also being reported that the show takes place right before Kirk, Spock, and Bones begin their five year mission.  It's also being mentioned that Fuller said that there would be no time travel on the show, so don't expect any cameos from actors from the previous series.


We also know that the first episode for the show will air on CBS, but from that point on, the only way you'll be able to watch the show will be on CBS All Access.  The pilot episode is being written by Fuller himself, with the help from Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek Into Darkness), while the next episode will be written by Nicholas Meyer.  He's the writer behind what has become arguably the best Star Trek Movie ever made, The Wrath of Khan.  Everything after that will be a collaboration between the three men, as well as contributing writers Joe Menosky (who wrote for Deep Space Nine), Aron Coleite (Heroes) and novelist Kristen Beyer.
