WIll We Ever See A Season 3 Of Young Justice?

Season 2 of Young Justice is now on NetFlix, and with it's arrival comes the hope from it's legions of fans that we'll see a third season.  We're not the only ones that are hopeful, either.  The cartoon's showrunner, Brandon Vietti, is also hopeful for a third season, too.  He recently sat down with comicbook.com for an interview, and here's what he had to say on the matter:

"I don't know.  That's the best answer I can give you. I'd be happy to do another one; Greg [Weisman] would be; Phil Bourassa, the character designer. We'd all in a heartbeat come back to do a third season if the Powers-That-Be feel they want to do that.  I love that world. We were not done telling stories; we had tons of ideas for more seasons ready to go, so yeah, I'd love to get into it."

Young Justice ran on Cartoon Network for two seasons, and was cancelled back in 2013.  It was a new take on the younger heroes than previous shows like Teen Titans.  Even though they were teenagers, they acted as young adults, trying to come into their own and to prove to their mentors that they were not only capable of being heroes, but they were ready to be heroes, too.  The artwork was amazing, and the stories were fantastic, so when it was announced that it wouldn't be back for a third season, it left all of it's fans scratching their heads.

Rogue One Trailer Close To Being Released

According to Jordan Maison, the Editor in Chief over at Cinelinx, Disney/Lucasfilm are close to releasing a trailer for the new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.  The only thing we don't know is which one we'll see first.

Maison tweeted that there are at least two or three different trailers that have been put together, and Disney is just trying to decide what tone they want the first one to take.  The movie looks much darker than anything that we've seen in a Star Wars movie so far, and the trailer looks to take on that same tone. 

The movie itself has been described as a "war movie" and a "heist film."  It will follow a group of X-Wing pilots that are sent on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.  It takes place in between Revnge of the Sith and A New Hope.  Don't expect many of the fighter pilots to survive, though.  As we know from the speech that was given in A New Hope, most of them die while stealing the plans.  It's also rumored that Darth Vader will have a much larger role in the film, and will be a lot more evil.  I mean a lot more evil, if the reports are true.  Here's some of what the article that I read by David Harris had to say:

"Reports from storyboards for some of Vader's battle scenes have the Sith Lord decapitating bodies, dismembering his foes by throwing his lightsaber at them, and levitating bodies up to make himself meat shields...Rogue One is setting up to be a Star Wars film like none we've ever seen before."

"Meat shields"?  That has to be one of the best descriptions I've ever seen written!

When Should The New Star Trek Take Place?

Coming off the heels of Star Trek's 50th anniversary will be a whole new television series for the franchise.  The pilot episode will air on CBS, but then you'll have to subscribe to CBS's streaming service, CBS All Access, to see all of the other episodes.  The question that people are asking, though, is just when will it take place?  We have all of the history of the other television shows to consider, like Star Trek (TOS), Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Enterprise.  Then we also have to consider the movies, including the most recent two that pretty much changed the entire history of the show.  So what should we expect?

This is a question that Screenrant.com recently asked, and they gave a pretty good answer on what they should do.  Their suggestion is to have the show take place after the distruction of Romulus, which took place in the 2009 movie Star Trek.  The reason why this would be a logical decision is so the new show won't interfere with the reboot movies, which can take place in an alternate timeline away from the "Prime Timeline," and it can still use the history of all of the previous shows.  It would also be smart for them to keep the television show and the movies separate so each can do their own thing, without worrying about how it would affect one another.

Bill Murray's Role In Zombieland Was Originally Much Different

Yesterday I told you that a possible sequel for Zombieland was still in the works, confirmed by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick at a Q & A that they were at.  But that wasn't the only interesting thing that they revealed about the zombie flick.  They said that Bill Murray wasn't their original choice for the role, and that when they did sign him for the movie, it had a much different take.  Here's what they had to say about the scene:

"It was a big action scene. It was all this stuff at the house, all the jokes about his career. But when he finally did show up, he just attacked the crap out of them. And he was the most devastatingly difficult zombie to destroy of all time."

I'm sorry, but I just can't picture Bill Murray as a crazed zombie attacking the crap out of everybody, especially after seeing him in the scenes that ended up in the final cut.  Reese and Wernick had sent their scripts out to different actors that they had wanted in their movie.  Their first choice had been Patrick Swayze, but due to his cancer, the actor was unavailable to work on anything, and they never even had a chance to send him a script.  Other actors that saw the screenplay didn't seem interested.  So when Bill Murray agreed to talk to them about the script, he offered up some changes to the scene, and they hashed out what we saw in the movie.  They said that they weren't sure if the other actors that read their screenplay just thought the scene was too violent, or wasn't big enough of a role.  If they had talked to the writers about the scene and let them know their concerns about the role, then we may have had a whole different cameo to watch.  Bill Murray being the amazing actor that he is, saw the script, and actually talked to the writers about his concerns, and it made the movie even better.  That is why Bill Murray is who he is...the best in the business!

Could We Still Get A Zombieland Sequel?

I have to be honest, this is one of my all time favorite movies!  The funny thing is, when I first saw the trailer for this movie back in 2009 I had no desire to see it.  It wasn't until it came out on DVD and one of my friends told me that I needed to watch it that I did.  I ended up buying the DVD, then upgraded to BluRay a couple of years later.  I still watch it quite a bit, it's one of the few movies that I can watch over and over again without it getting old.  The characters are great, and the actors that play them were perfect choices.  The story and the humor are top notch, and I have to be honest, I hadn't seen a movie that compared to it until Deadpool came out a couple of weeks ago.  This shouldn't have surprised me, since Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were also the ones that wrote Zombieland.

After Zombieland grew to a "cult classic," rumors swirled around that there was going to be a sequel.  Instead, we got a cheap television pilot of the same name from Amazon Studios which never got picked up after it's debut.  So where does this leave the sequel that never happened?  Here's what Reese had to say about the matter while doing a Q & A with Cinemablend.com:

"It's actually still in development over at Sony.  They've had a couple of writers take a crack at it.  We're still exec producers and we're guiding and helping where we can.  I think there's still very much talk about it, but I think it has to be right.  I think all the actors and [original Zombieland director] Reuben [Fleischer] all feel like there's no reason to do it again if we're not getting it exactly right."

So if the writers can't get a good script put together, then no sequel.  I'm hoping they do, because I'd love to see everybody come back for another go around to try and find some Twinkies!

"Old Man Logan" Theme Confirmed For Wolverine 3

There have been a lot of rumors that have been running around concerning Hugh Jackman's last outing as Wolverine, but now DenofGeek.com has confirmed two things about the film Wolverine 3 (working title).  The first thing is that 20th Century Fox is shooting for an R-rating (thank you, Deadpool!)  The second thing is that it will be loosely based on the fan favorite Old Man Logan comic book story.

First, let's talk about the R-rating.  Look, I understand that Deadpool is doing great at the box office, and since this is his first stand alone movie that they've done for him, giving it an R-rating makes sense.  You start the series off on an R-rating, then audiences will know what to expect in future projects for the character.  The problem with Wolverine going this route is that the first two movies that they've done for him have been PG-13.  It has an audience that is younger than Deadpool audience, and watching him in all of his stand-alone movies and X-Men films, they won't be able to go see him for his last time around.  For this reason alone, I think it's a bad idea.  Having said that, I can't wait to see a Wolverine movie where he finally goes completely berserk!

Now, about the Old Man Logan story.  Whaaa...???  I don't understand how they are claiming to make an Old Man Logan movie since over half of the characters in the book belong to other movie companies.  Let's go down the list...The Hulk (plus his offspring), Hawkeye, Red Skull, Spider-Man (okay, Spider-Man's daughter) just to name a few.  Then there's the fact that in the book, Wolverine kills all of the X-Men when Mysterio messes with his head (another Spider-Man character, by the way).  How will that affect the X-Men franchise's timeline?  Not that the X-Men cinematic universe timeline has ever been consistent or made sense, but still, this is a valid point.  The closest thing that they will be able to do is have it take place in a dystopian future, he has to make his way across the country on some sort of quest to save his family, and then seeks revenge after they get killed.  Really.  That's the most we can expect from this film as far as the Old Man Logan story goes.  It's kind of like Wold War Z.  It was "based" on a novel, but the only thing that it had in common with the book was the title.

Regardless of how they do this, I am looking forward to seeing this movie.  It's looking to be the truest form of Wolverine that this company has made.  For that reason alone, this is a "must see."

So Who Is Peter Quill's Father? Here's One Fan's Thoughts On The Matter...

I know, I already used this picture once this week, but I really like it, especially the little baby Groot standing on Drax's shoulder.  But that's not what this is going to be about.  Instead, I wanted to throw out this theory on who Peter Quill's father is going to be in the the sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.  I'm not sure who the idea first came from, but I thought that it was interesting enough to mention it.  If it turns out that this actually happens, it will seriously shake things up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

We've already been told that Thanos won't be appearing in any more films until Avengers: Infinity Wars 1 & 2 come out, but what if what of his family members makes an appearance?  I mean, besides Gamora and Nebula, but they aren't actually related to him.

According to the Marvel comic books, Thanos was born to Alars (later to be called Mentor) and Sui-San, the last surviving Eternal on Titan after war broke out.  Thanos was a mutant child, not resembling his parents at all.  His younger brother, on the other hand, did.  This handsome younger brother to Thanos was called Eros.  While Thanos later became obsessed with the cosmic embodiment of death, Eros had the "natural ability to excite pleasure in others."  He would travel around the universe searching for adventure and romance.  He even made it to Earth at one point.  See where I'm going with this?

What if Quill's father ends up being Eros?  How messed up would that be?  First off, the whole Quill and Gamora thing would turn into a Luke kissing Leia sort of thing, right?  At least, they aren't actually related to one another, but they'd still be cousins, right?  And that would make Thanos Quill's uncle!

Like I said, this is just one theory that someone put out there, but I thought I'd share it with everyone.  I wouldn't put it past James Gunn to shake things up like this, either.  He can make pretty much anything work in a movie for him.
